Job Description:

L3Harris is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Scientist Systems Architect for International C2 and C4ISR Systems. The ideal candidate will be responsible for leading the development of complex systems, ensuring architectural integrity and consistency across the pursuits and program execution. The Systems Architect will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to define system architecture for new and existing products, balancing technical performance, cost, and schedule while meeting customer requirements.

Essential Functions:

  • Develop complete solution system architectures to meet customer specific requirements for Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) systems.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to cross-functional teams throughout the pursuits and programs.
  • Define and analyze system-level requirements and translate them into architectural solutions.
  • Lead the development of system architectures for complex systems, ensuring compatibility with customer and stakeholder requirements based on L3Harris Type 1 and Type Radio products and modern MANET Waveforms. 
  • Integrate TCOM products and solutions into existing customer system platforms. Platforms include land vehicle, shelter, fixed site, ship, aircraft, UAV. The tactical systems are deployed over HF, VHF, UHF, and microwave radios for both voice and data applications. Establish reusable and expandable Systems Architectures and System Concepts of Use based on specific customer requirements and use cases.
  • Work with internal teams to influence technical product changes and roadmaps to meet impactful customer requirements.
  • Work closely with Sales and Business Development to capture and document customer requirements.
  • Prepare white papers and presentations. Present directly to customers the custom systems solutions.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and methodologies to continuously improve system architecture and design processes. Analyze and understand solutions from previous proposals and executed programs to provide scope guidance during early capture phases.
  • Coordinate with Program and Project Management to ensure the conversion of customer requirements, including informal requirements, into solutions that balance the technical, schedule and cost constraints.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship within a growing Systems Engineering organization.
  • Ability to obtain a US Secret Security Clearance

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree with 12 years prior relevant Systems Design & Systems Integration experience, Graduate Degree with 10 years prior experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 16 years of prior related experience.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Knowledge of RF antenna systems, two-way tactical radio systems, microwave systems, other wireless systems, IP networks, International Government / DoD systems experience desirable.  Experience with tactical / mobile networking.
  • Proficiency in model-based systems engineering (MBSE) tools and methodologies.
  • Experience with requirements management and system modeling tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
  • Packaging and performance verification of electrical systems for harsh environments including rugged packaging for transport and mobile applications. 
  • Vehicle and shelter systems integration – to include communication systems, intercom systems, electronics, software application, and power systems.
  • Strong technical proposal experience to include knowledge and expertise in the following areas:  detailed scheduling, work breakdown structure development, basis of estimates development and technical writing. 

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in Colorado State, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Vermont and New York State is $130,500 - $242,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of collective bargaining agreements.
