About your next Challenge as a Verification and Validation Engineer :

The Verification and Validation Specialist/Engineer is responsible for all aspects of the verification and validation of naval communications systems for military and commercial applications.  The candidate is responsible for testing design, planning, automating and executing tests to deliver a product of the highest quality. He or she should be self-motivated, creative, proactive and collaborative.
The V&V engineer will work closely with the embedded software designers, hardware designers, product owners, and stakeholders planning, executing test iterations, tracking/reporting results, troubleshooting and coordinating resolution.

What will you do:

  • Interact with product owners, development teams and stakeholders to develop a strong understanding of the product and testing objectives. 
  • Participate in design review and ensure design requirements are testable. 
  • Define test specifications covering low to complex system or integration functionalities. 
  • Develop and document test plans, execute tests and generate reports. 
  • Define and set up the test and validation environment including scripts development and potentially contacting vendors, asking for samples and quotation. 
  • Develop and run automated tests covering functionality and diagnostic requirements. 
  • Communicate critical issues and status updates in a timely manner. 
  • Debug test failures and analyze root causes. 
  • Train individuals involved in verification and validation activities as needed.

Required Skills and Experiences:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent with 3-5 years experience in the systems engineering life cycle, including typical tools for requirements development (e.g.  DOORS).
  • Experience with integration and test of military or commercial systems.
  • Knowledge of naval communication systems
  • Resolution of technical issues arising during the implementation, integration and testing of the system and subsystem elements;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and presentation skills 
  • Understanding of verification methodology and software development life cycle.
  • Knowledge of network protocols (TCP, IP, HTTP, FTP, DNS, SSH, etc.). 
  • Experience with scripting languages (Python, Lua, JavaScript, Bash, XML, JSON, etc.).
  • Experience in different hypervisors (KVM, VMware, VirtualBox, etc.)
  • Experience in test automation and continuous integration.
  • Experience in functional and performance testing.
  • Strong English written and spoken skills

  • Familiar with test equipment (oscilloscope, signal generator, analysers). 
  • Working knowledge of IBM DOORS®
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Working knowledge of typical military standards used for system design and test
  • Knowledge of naval and commercial certification standards and processes 
  • Proficient in MS Office tools

Eligibility Criteria (Mandatory):

  • Must be eligible for registration with the Controlled Goods Program;
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a government of Canada “Reliability” status and Level 2 (Secret) security clearance.
  • Must be eligible to meet the requirements for U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
