Where did you attend school and what did you study?

I graduated from Xavier University in 2023 with a degree in finance. Shortly after graduation, I joined our program finance team at L3Harris and I’ve been with the team ever since. I’ve always had an interest in aerospace and defense, as well as finance, so being able to mesh those two together has made for a very interesting career and I really enjoy what I do.

How has L3Harris supported your professional development and growth?

L3Harris has supported my professional development and growth in several ways. One key aspect is the mentorship from leadership and peers early in my career. The new college grad program offers bi-annual performance reviews, providing more opportunities to discuss growth and career progression. Additionally, the MBA tuition reimbursement is a great option for anyone looking to advance their career to the next level.

Outside of work, we do a lot of fun things as a team. When the weather permits, Cincinnati Reds games with the finance team are always super fun. We’ve also joined the program management team to do some arcade games and go-karting as a way to network and connect with everyone outside of the office. 

What are some of the key projects or responsibilities you’ve had since joining the team, and what have you learned from them?

One of my key responsibilities at L3Harris has been material receipts forecasting, a report I run twice a week to help us accurately track and forecast revenue. Another important project has been preparing presentations on quarterly profit variances for senior leadership, which is always a busy time of the quarter. From these experiences, I've learned that the little things are very important, and focusing on small details can make a significant difference.

Can you describe a project or accomplishment at L3Harris that you are particularly proud of?

One project that I’m particularly proud of since starting at L3Harris is our Power BI Cash Dashboard, which provides a daily refresh of our cash receipts, as well as a monthly refresh of our cash forecast. It allows our team to access our Power BI site information at any time, which is an important factor for cash forecasting and communication between our different teams.

What advice would you give to new graduates who are considering a career in program finance at L3Harris?

The first piece of advice I would give is to overcommunicate. Getting information out there sooner rather than later, so the team can be proactive rather than reactive, is very important. The second piece of advice I would give is to take on a challenging program early in your career. It may seem like a daunting task at first, but you’ll end up learning a lot.
