Job Description:
The Material Handler performs manual and clerical duties related to shipping, receiving, storing, issuing, and delivering a variety of materials, equipment, and supplies. These positions load, unload and convey materials within or near plant or work site; physically transfer materials and/or products to assembly work stations; verify and maintain associated records, logs, and other documentation; utilize small hand tools and may operate material handling equipment, including forklifts, pallet handlers, hand trucks, and the like; perform record keeping activities directly related to inventory transactions, receipts, issues, balances, and transfers; make deliveries of packages received to the appropriate functional area; perform routine maintenance checks; and monitor conditions of stored materials and special requirements of individual materials.
Essential Functions
- Makes deliveries of materials received to the appropriate area or person, in the most appropriate form (e.g. proper repackaging when necessary for transport).
- Helps perform routine vehicle maintenance checks.
- Perform proper storage, cleaning, and warehouse housekeeping processes to ensure materials, tools, and parts are in designated locations, intact, and inoperable order.
- Operate and move items to appropriate area with hoists, lifting devices, fork lift truck, pallet.
- Responsible for all computer input transactions to inventory records, including issues, miscellaneous receipts, return to stock, work in process transfers, transfers between contracts, cycle counts, audit trails, material to stock from inspection, etc.
- Responsible for all data input to purchase order receipts, which include checking packing lists against incoming freight, noting any discrepancies, working closely with Supply Chain and Materiel Management department on any problem, distribution of paperwork to the respective departments, filing and maintaining records.
- Responsible for loading and unloading of hazardous materials.
- Performs physical counts of materials and generates periodic paperwork reflecting the status of inventories.
- Monitors conditions of stored materials regarding identification, stacking, orderliness, safety and special requirements of individual materials.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent
- 1-3 years direct experience
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $33.76/hr - $51.91/hr. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
