Job Description:
L3Harris in West Palm Beach is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Lead Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) professional to join our team, contributing to both the safety and environmental programs. In this pivotal role, you'll directly contribute to the well-being of our employees, the protection of the environment, and the success of our innovative aerospace and defense projects.
The Environment, Health and Safety Specialist will have a strong background in environmental, health and safety (EH&S) compliance and will be responsible for a variety of EH&S programs, such as respiratory protection, industrial hygiene, personal protective equipment, ionizing/non-ionizing radiation, ergonomics, hearing conservation, hazard communication, electrical safety, NFPA 70E, contractor safety, and machine safeguarding, air emissions, industrial wastewater discharge, storm water pollution prevention, RCRA compliance, and SPCC compliance.
Essential Functions:
- Oversee a variety of EH&S programs, such as respiratory protection, industrial hygiene, personal protective equipment, ionizing/non-ionizing radiation, ergonomics, hearing conservation, hazard communication, electrical safety, NFPA 70E, contractor safety, and machine safeguarding, air emissions, industrial wastewater discharge, storm water pollution prevention, RCRA compliance, and SPCC compliance.
- Drive continual improvement initiatives, leveraging lean principles, to reduce safety and environmental risk in our processes and identify sustainability opportunities.
- Build trust and confidence with internal customers to influence change through non-obstructive, systemic solutions to EHS challenges EHS leadership
- Guide operations leaders and site EHS professionals in implementing and sustaining company EHS policies and assisting the regional EHS leader in driving segment and corporate EHS objectives
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
- Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, presentation)
- EHS certification preferred
- Experience driving segment objectives
- Experience managing multiple projects
- 5+ years of environment, health, and safety experience in personnel management and experience leading EHS initiatives
- Understanding of ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001 and ISO 45001 management system requirements
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Excellent teamwork, interpersonal, problem-solving, and analysis skills
- Ability to exhibit sound judgment and professionalism in all situations
- Ability to demonstrate ability to manage multiple tasks and assess priorities effectively
