About the Role
WESCAM is currently seeking a Systems Engineer to join our elite design team. Your need for a challenge will be fulfilled as you deal with the complexity of integrating the efforts of multiple engineering disciplines to create our world-class surveillance products, plus you'll be working with some of the best educated and brightest designers in the business. Within this environment your ideas and skills will be enhanced by excellent technology and you will serve as a key member in a multi-disciplinary R&D team working on a wide variety of imaging and laser systems. Primary Responsibilities
- Ownership of assigned programs, coordination with PE and PMO as to program status and issues
- Develop detailed test plans and procedures to support internal and customer specifications; use these to conduct qualification tests on Wescam systems and subsystems
- Verify system performance during testing, and document outages via NCR process, provide diagnostic support to close out NCRs as needed.
- Author and peer-review product formal qualification test plans, procedures and reports
- Work with internal resources including thermal chambers and vibration tables to complete product testing, aid in coordination of these resources as required.
- Work with independent external test laboratory facilities to schedule and complete product testing
- Support design engineering team in evaluating environmental performance of new designs (green qual) as needed
- Record and Present qualification results at project meetings, project reviews or customer meetings as needed
- Responsible for calibration and maintenance programs as required
- Document generation and handling through the Teamcenter process
- Procure quotations, generate purchase requisitions, and track status to support test programs
- Work with program and project managers to support budgeting requirements in support of test and evaluation
- 30% off-site travel is required, primarily within the greater Toronto and Hamilton area
Required Capabilities
- High Level understanding of, and ability to properly assess operation of, electro-optical imaging systems
- Familiarity with environmental testing of aerospace/defense products
- High level of integrity and attention to detail to ensure test result accuracy
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
- Deeper understanding of qualification standards MIL STD 810, RTCA DO-160, MIL STD 461, MIL STD 704
- Excellent technical comprehension skills to execute tests independently. Ownership of assigned programs, coordination with PE and PMO as to program status and issues with only high-level direction from project and test engineering leads
- Ability to work independently and meet product technical, cost, and schedule testing requirements
- Experience with electrical test equipment including oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, thermocouples, pressure transducers
- Working knowledge of DOORS and proficiency with MS Office Suite, MS Visio
- Strong problem solving aptitude
Desired Education and Experiences
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience, or
- Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience, or
- In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
- Relevant experience is technical experience in test design, verification and execution of aerospace/defense products
- Meets the requirements of the Canadian Controlled Goods Registration Program and is eligible for a Canadian government security clearance
