As a subsidiary of L3Harris Technologies and within the Integrated Mission Systems Segment, the WESCAM division develops the most advanced optical sensor and targeting systems for global defense and military sectors, National Security, Search & Rescue and Airborne law enforcement agencies. From long-range covert surveillance missions to search and rescue operations, our MX-series systems, and the mission systems solutions they are a part of, produce stabilized high-magnification electro1-optical and infrared images from airborne, marine and ground based platforms, enabling our customers to see first and act first.

About the Role

This is a 16 month co-op term (with 12 month roles occasionally available). Our products are only valuable to our customers if they are reliable and safe. That’s where you come in. You will be working closest with the Reliability and Safety Engineering team on a variety of tasks and initiatives. You will also have the opportunity to support the Integrated Logistics Support team. This role requires someone with a can-do attitude, strong technical background, and eagerness to learn new things.

Primary Responsibilities 

  • Perform data analysis to quantify the reliability of our fielded products and lower level parts. Improve and automate this process as much as possible.
  • Assist in developing predictive maintenance policies using telemetry data.
  • Learn about and assist with activities to influence the reliability of products in the design phase (ex: DFMEA).
  • Communicate results of analyses, findings, and studies in thorough written reports and presentations. 
  • Assist with product safety analyses, such as fault tree analysis.

Required Capabilities 

  • Motivated self-starter who seeks out opportunities to collaborate with others.
  • Confidence to ask questions and probe.
  • Analytical thinker with the ability to extract meaningful data from various sources.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Written and verbal communication that is concise and factual.
  • A curiosity in how things work and break.
  • Background in programming, and probability and statistics is an asset.

Desired Education and Experiences 

  • Enrollment in a Bachelors or Advanced degree in Engineering or Science program
