Job Schedule:9/80: Employees work 9 out of every 14 days – totaling 80 hours worked, and have every other Friday off

About the Role

The development of complex electronic systems using the latest technologies requires top-talent, a well-structured development process, but above all a culture that is open, trusting, helpful and supportive. This is where the electrical engineering department excels!

The electrical engineering department is responsible for architecting, designing, developing, modifying, evaluating and integrating electronic equipment, electronic parts, components, or integrated circuitry for complex, high performance hardware systems.

Determines design approaches and parameters. Analyzes electrical requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints. May use high level programming language to configure programmable logic devices. Analyzes equipment to establish operating data, conducts experimental tests and evaluates results. Selects components and equipment based on analysis of specifications and reliability.

Primary Responsibilities 

  • Support the design and development of assigned hardware subsystems and engineering projects under guidance from senior engineers.
  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of hardware artifacts, including requirements documentation, schematics, bills of materials (BOMs), PCB layouts, and fabrication documentation.
  • Perform bench testing and validation activities to verify hardware functionality and compliance with requirements.
  • Support system-level integration, qualification, and verification activities.
  • Contribute to project task planning, estimation, and tracking in collaboration with project team members.
  • Participate in technical design reviews by preparing materials, reviewing designs, and incorporating feedback to ensure design integrity.
  • Follow established engineering processes, standards, and best practices while contributing suggestions for incremental improvements.
  • Assist with troubleshooting technical issues related to prototype, production, or customer hardware under supervision.
  • Prepare and provide basic metrics, reports, and documentation to support project and departmental needs.
  • Build effective working relationships across engineering and other business areas to support team objectives.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends relevant to electrical and hardware engineering.
  • Complete other related tasks and assignments as directed by the Manager.

Desired Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field

Preferred Skills:

    • Theoretical knowledge of electrical engineering principles with the ability to apply concepts to practical problems.
    • Ability to contribute to the design, implementation, and testing of electrical subsystems under guidance.
    • Foundational understanding of circuit card assemblies and wiring harness design and manufacturing processes.
    • Basic analytical and problem-solving skills, including exposure to simulation and modeling tools.
    • Ability to debug and test electrical systems with support from more experienced engineers.
    • Familiarity with modern CAD, simulation, and analysis tools (e.g., PSpice, MATLAB).
    • Exposure to schematic capture and PCB layout tools (e.g., OrCAD, Allegro).
    • General knowledge of electronic components.
    • Awareness of applicable industry and military standards is an asset.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical information within the team.
    • Demonstrated willingness to learn, accept feedback, and develop skills in a fast-paced engineering environment.
    • Ability to work independently on defined tasks while seeking guidance when needed.
    • Meets the requirements of the Controlled Goods Registration Program and is eligible for a Canadian government security clearance (NATO Secret).

*This posting is for a current vacancy.  In the province of Ontario, Canada, the pay range for this position will be $77,500 to $89,100
