About the Role
L3Harris is seeking an Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Senior Associate for its WESCAM division who will join a global network of EHS professionals within the organization. The successful candidate will be based in Don Mills Ontario, reporting to the Manager of Environmental, Health and Safety.
The EHS Sr. Associate will be responsible for supporting the development, implementation and continuous improvement of Environmental, Health and Safety programs. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring regulatory compliance, driving safety culture, supporting risk reduction initiatives, managing workplace injury claims and maintaining a safe and environmentally responsible workplace.
Primary Responsibilities
- Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) on EHS regulations and company standards.
- Support the execution and monitoring of EHS programs.
- Serves as the immediate site point of contact for external agencies, such as the MOL or MOE.
- Conduct risk assessments, safety inspections, job hazard analysis and root cause investigations.
- Support incident reporting and investigation, including corrective and preventatives actions.
- Serve as a EHS functional lead for Operational Excellence programs and activities.
- Develop and deliver EHS training as required to employees and contractors.
- Focuses on continuous improvement of EHS programs in processes, systems, and products.
- Coordinate with site leadership and cross-functional teams to promote a strong safety culture and help to address employee EHS concerns.
- Maintains EHS records and documentation to support due diligence and compliance with local, provincial, federal and corporate requirements.
- Supports pollution prevention and sustainability projects or initiatives.
- Monitors and reports usage of water, waste and utilities for quarterly reporting of sustainability metrics.
- Supports any required EHS audits, programs and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Completes all required internal and external reporting requirements accurately and in a timely manner, including all requirements outlined in ChemTrac, CoA or EASR permits.
- Coordinates emergency preparedness efforts, including drills, spill response, and evacuation planning.
- Leads or assists in the reporting, tracking, and follow up of WSIB workplace injuries and illnesses. Acts as a main point of contact for WSIB claims, liaising with case managers, healthcare providers, and internal stakeholders.
- Develop and oversee early and safe return-to-work plans in collaboration with site leadership and the Manager of Environmental, Health and Safety
- Supports the hazardous materials management system, including complying with WHMIS requirements and maintaining SDS databases.
- Work may be performed in multiple site locations and environments to include offices, laboratories, manufacturing areas, and customer/field service location support.
- Flexible to support off-shift or weekend activities and response measures as needed
- Performs related duties or special projects as directed.
Required Capabilities

- Proficient computer and technical application skills (technical writing, database and data management).
- Ability to travel between Don Mills and Waterdown as needed.
- Strong teamwork, interpersonal, problem-solving, and analysis skills.
- Exhibits sound judgment and professionalism in all situations.
Desired Education and Experiences
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience, or a graduate degree with a minimum of 0-2 years of prior related experience.
- Solid working knowledge and technical understanding of Environmental Regulations, WSIB Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
- ISO 14001, 45001, COR and AS9100 management system experience preferred.
- WSIB claims management experience.
- Basic understanding of US OSHA recordkeeping requirements.
