L3Harris in Tewkesbury is our HQ for our Intelligence & Cyber International division. In the land domain, our T7 and T4 multi-mission robots deliver next-generation remote capabilities and uncompromised performance. We design and manufacture world-leading land force protection systems, cyber and electromagnetic activities (CEMA), electronic warfare (EW) and encryption capabilities. Our cyber capabilities provide an information advantage in the fields of kinetic conflict, cyber warfare, force protection and counterterrorism.

We are seeking mid-level or experienced Software Engineers with a passion for building elegant solutions and a proven track record of technical excellence to design and develop innovative, cutting-edge systems. This role offers the opportunity to be a hands-on Software Engineer helping to create solutions that prioritise performance, reliability, and scalability.

Depending on your expertise, you may contribute to our Electronic Warfare, Integrated Air & Missile Defence or Information Resilience portfolios. We’re looking for full-stack engineers with hand-on experience in Angular and/or React, leveraging TypeScript to craft responsive front-end web apps, and building robust RESTful APIs using the latest C# .NET technologies on the back end.

Please note that although hybrid working may be available, this is dependent on specific projects, and as such may change from time to time. As a result we cannot guarantee hybrid or remote working for this role. The successful candidate must be capable of full-time on-site presence at our Tewkesbury facility.

  • £3,000 to £6,000 DV Bonus – please note this level of clearance isn’t essential for this role. This bonus is subject to individual clearance and project requirements – discussed upon application.

What the role will involve

The responsibilities of your role will include the following:

  • Applying your software skills as an individual contributor to help develop complex software systems;
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to define functional and non-functional requirements for embedded and/or user interface software projects;
  • Creation of low-level designs, implementation and test solutions, in line with the defined architecture;
  • Supporting and promoting adherence to coding standards, best practices, planning documentation, procedures for software development and delivery, and continuous improvement initiatives;
  • Depending on level of experience, providing guidance and mentorship to software engineers;
  • Meeting cost and schedule targets while contributing to technical reviews, bids & proposals, budget & schedule discussions, customer engagement activities.

What you’ll bring 

The role requires the following experience and skills:

Front-end:

  • Angular and/or React
  • Typescript
  • HTML + CSS


Back-end:

  • C# .NET (Latest)
  • REST APIs
  • Entity Framework Core


General:

  • Experience of using version control systems (e.g. Git / GitLab or similar);
  • Strong object-oriented design and programming skills (OOD, OOP);
  • Familiarity with development methodologies (e.g. V-model, Waterfall, Agile);
  • Proficiency with tools like Jira and Confluence;
  • A proven track record of delivering reliable, maintainable software across the lifecycle, including peer review;
  • Strong communication, documentation and organisational skills;
  • A degree (or equivalent experience) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

Desirable Skills

Any of the following additional experience or skills would be advantageous:

  • Experience with Agile / Kanban;
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines;
  • Experience with Artifactory (JFrog);
  • Experience in C++, preferably embedded C++, or willing to learn;
  • Experience of other languages such as C, JavaScript, Python, Rust, etc;
  • Experience with Linux development environments;
  • Experience architecting software systems that interface with hardware;
  • Experience with DevOps tools and practices (e.g. containerisation / Docker, Kubernetes, Kafka, micro service architecture, continuous assurance / CI/CD and associated best practice);
  • Demonstrated ability to document, plan and manage software team activities;
  • Experience of setting up, monitoring and reporting appropriate metrics throughout the software project lifecycle.
