Job Description:

L3Harris is seeking a Chief RF Systems Engineer to lead the engineering team as a technical subject matter expert. You will be part of a multi-disciplined engineering team working on diverse antenna subsystem projects. As a Chief RF Systems Engineer, you will be directly supporting proposal efforts to generate new business, mentor younger peers, lead timely program execution, develop state-of-the-art RF sub-system designs, and ensure antenna systems designs meet or exceed customer requirements.

The role is for an individual who is open to additional learning and would relish the opportunity to immerse themselves in both project work and research and development activities.

Essential Functions:

  • Serve as technical authority for the engineering team under the technical manager.
  • Interact directly with customers to provide updates on program status and reviews.
  • Work with business development to find, generate, and propose new business.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers and technicians in the design, build, and test phases of RF projects and programs.
  • Provide technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems involving antenna/sensor-based applications such as electronic warfare, electronic attack, electronic support measures, communications, geolocation, direction finding, etc.
  • Collaborate with program management to coordinate development team’s activities and manage project schedule.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, or systems engineering with 12 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate degree and a minimum of 10 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 16 years of prior related experience.
  • Experience with full life cycle RF system design and test including RF, electrical, mechanical, and software.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Solidworks or CST
  • Familiarity with antenna ranges and pattern testing (farfield, nearfield, compact, etc.)
  • Demonstrated familiarity with Vector Network Analyzer calibration and measurement. Familiarity with spectrum analyzers, function generators, oscilloscopes, DMM, etc.
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Experience with technical baseline reviews, and other proposal management activities
  • Experience in system analysis of multi-octave phased array antennas
  • Familiarity with air to ground propagation modeling in the HF to mmW frequency range
  • Analytical design experience using software and simulation tools such as AWR Microwave Office/Keysight ADS, CST, FEKO, and HFSS.
  • Solid understanding of HF to mmW antenna fundamentals, as well as design and performance trade-offs
