Job Description:

L3Harris is seeking an Operations Sr. Manager to join our manufacturing facility in Rochester, NY. The Operations Manager will be responsible for the safety, cost, quality, delivery, and productivity of a manufacturing team.  This position will work closely with multiple functional areas to optimize material flow, equipment, and workforce requirements within the area to meet or exceed daily business objectives.  The Operations Manager will provide leadership to a department across multiple shifts, driving continuous improvement, remove waste and cost from their product lines, and improve material flows within the manufacturing process.

Essential Functions:

  • Work consists of leading teams to drive significant improvements of processes, systems, solutions, or products to enhance performance of job area. May develop new concepts or standards.
  • Provides measurable input of new products, processes or standards in operational plans that will have impact on the achievement of overall functional results.
  • Communicates within and outside of the organization to influence leadership to accept new practices, approaches, and concepts. Develops or champions new concepts or technologies.
  • Requires ability to communicate and influence leadership regarding matters of substantial importance to the function or business area. Frequently conducts briefings to senior leaders.
  • Manages the implementation of functional strategies and recommends operational plans that directly impact the short- to mid-term function or business area results.
  • Requires broad management and cross-functional leadership knowledge and mastery level knowledge within a specific technical area or broad expertise across multiple related job areas.
  • Responsible for improving upon existing or establishing new processes and systems using significant conceptualization, reasoning and interpretation. Solutions are innovative and unique and draw upon best practices based on expertise. Develops or champions new concepts or technologies. Opportunities for problem solving and innovation are often complex, requiring broad-based consideration of variables that impact multiple functions and/or businesses. Extensively analyzes problems to seek understanding of the root cause of the problem.
  • Willingness to lead teams on off shifts when required.
  • Participate in the SIOP Process as a Stakeholder providing input on the build plan and Production capacity.
  • Has hiring, firing, promotion and compensation authority within own organization, in accordance with management review and approval.
  • Work requires a high degree of responsibility for resources, and occasionally influences business decisions made by functional leadership. May recommend and implement new products, processes, policies, standards or operating plans in support of job function strategy. Has budget accountability for the department.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum 12 years prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree with a minimum of 10 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 16 years of prior related experience in Operations Management. 

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Experience working with root cause problem solving methodologies
  • Experience with manufacturing electronics
  • Understanding and utilization of continuous improvement practices (Black Belt/Six Sigma certification or equivalent Lean Manufacturing certifications)
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written
  • Experience with planning and establishing operational objectives for a team with impact on department results.
  • Understands management and lean approaches and has practical knowledge of job area.

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in New York State is $107,500 - $199,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of collective bargaining agreements
