Essential Functions:
- Perform a variety of tool engineering tasks that are planned to provide experience and familiarization with the manufacturing staff and Aerojet Rocketdyne programs, methods and practices, such as:
- Conceive and sketch preliminary tool designs and establishes primary tool design criteria, under guidance from senior engineers
- Design tooling necessary to complete production operations, following production plans, using 3D CAD programs (Unigraphics NX and Creo).
- Generate tool drawings and perform drafting per ASME Y14.100 and Y14.5 as well as internal standards to produce machine prints for fabrication by internal or external machine shops.
- Follows programs or assigned portions through to completion, maintaining constant liaison with manufacturing planning and tool design personnel involved.
- Provides support to ensure successful tooling operations based upon efficiency, ease, and safety of operations, ease of maintenance and cost of fabrication.
- Assists with investigations and resolution of tooling problems on the rocket engine assembly floor, machine shop, and test lab, and observes tool tryouts for design suitability.
Qualifications:
- US Citizenship Only Required. Dual Citizenship does not meet job qualifications.
- Students must be actively pursuing a Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering or other related major.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Solid modeling experience with Unigraphics NX 8.5 or newer, Creo 5 or newer, or Solidworks 2023 or newer. Other CAD systems acceptable depending on experience.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Fabrication experience, milling, turning, NC programming, welding, etc.
- Familiar with Microsoft Office suite.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $25/hr - $32/hr. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. L3Harris also offers a variety of benefits, including relocation stipend, 401(k), EAP, and companypaid holidays.
