Job Description:
The Systems Engineer will support mission critical initiatives across emerging mission areas, providing onsite engineering expertise at the Air Force Technical Applications Center (AFTAC) on the Patrick Space Force Base (PSFB). This role partners closely with mission leads, product owners, customers, other contractors and multidisciplinary engineering teams to define system requirements, develop mission concepts, and deliver end-to-end architectural solutions.
Essential Functions:
- System Concept Development: Develop system concepts (CONOPS) and deliver comprehensive architectural solutions tailored to mission requirements.
- Define and manage system requirements, including decomposition and traceability, throughout the project lifecycle.
- Produce and maintain detailed system diagrams, interface definitions and drawings, and lifecycle engineering artifacts.
- Support design reviews, readiness reviews, risk identification, and integration planning.
- Contribute to system integration planning and risk identification.
- Work with multidisciplinary engineering teams to align implementation approaches with system level design and mission needs; and to ensure mission needs are effectively met and integrated within the project.
- Lead systems integration, verification activities, and lab infrastructure support.
- Collaborate with product owners and customers to refine requirements and system concepts.
- Apply cloud-based solutions work within Agile methodologies.
- Apply strong communication and leadership skills to influence technical direction across teams.
- Maintain regular communication with customers to ensure their needs are understood and addressed.
- Develop or work with the program PM/PE to develop estimates, define detailed requirements, and design solutions that meet those requirements.
- Utilize Agile methodologies to manage project timelines and deliverables efficiently.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree with 6+ years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree with 4+ years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
- Active Top-Secret clearance required.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- 5+ years systems engineering experience with strong understanding of system architecture and defense development cycles.
- Experience with cloud-based architecture.
- Strong analytical, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Familiarity with AWS cloud based service and technical stack
- Ability to present complex concepts to diverse technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience with MBSE tools (Cameo, SysML)
- Active TS/SCI clearance preferred.
