Job Description:
The Senior Associate, Production Planning is responsible for supporting the development, coordination, and execution of production schedules to meet customer requirements, operational goals, and business objectives. This role works cross-functionally with manufacturing, supply chain, procurement, engineering, quality, and program teams to ensure material and production readiness, schedule adherence, and efficient workflow across the production environment.
The ideal candidate will have strong planning, analytical, and communication skills, with the ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.
Essential Functions:
- Develop, maintain, and monitor production schedules to support customer demand and internal operational commitments.
- Coordinate with manufacturing, supply chain, procurement, and program teams to ensure alignment of production priorities and material availability.
- Analyze demand, inventory, capacity, and lead times to support effective production planning decisions.
- Track work orders, shortages, schedule changes, and production status to identify risks and drive timely resolution.
- Support the release, prioritization, and maintenance of production orders in ERP/MRP systems.
- Communicate schedule status, constraints, and recovery plans to internal stakeholders.
- Assist in balancing production loads and available resources to optimize throughput and on-time delivery.
- Review planning parameters and recommend adjustments based on business needs, forecast changes, and operational performance.
- Monitor key planning metrics, such as schedule attainment, on-time delivery, backlog, and inventory levels.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to production flow, planning accuracy, and process efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and applicable quality requirements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. Graduate Degree or equivalent with 0 to 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 6 years of prior related experience.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, Manufacturing, Engineering, or related field
- 2+ years of experience in production planning, manufacturing, supply chain, or operations
- Experience in a manufacturing or production environment
- Working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems and production planning processes
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel
- Experience in aerospace, defense, or other complex manufacturing environments, preferably low-volume/high-mix
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems such as CONTROL, Oracle, Costpoint, or similar platforms
- Knowledge of production planning, capacity planning, material planning, inventory control, and scheduling
- Familiarity with shop floor operations and manufacturing execution practices
- Ability to work across cross-functional teams, including operations, supply chain, procurement, and program stakeholders
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess risk and drive mitigation actions
- APICS/ASCM certification preferred, with strong attention to detail and data accuracy
