About your next challenge as Airworthiness and Technical Training Coordinator :

L3Harris is seeking a seasoned Airworthiness and Technical Training Coordinator to assume an exciting and multi-faceted role that will include duties and responsibilities in a training and standards role as an Aircraft Maintenance Specialist and Technical Trainer. The successful candidate will join the MAS’ Operation team and be located in Ottawa, Ontario, supporting the CC150 & CC330 Operation with Canada’s premier aircraft in service support provider.

You will coordinate efforts of specialists from within the Operations team and will be a key member responsible for the overall delivery of the CC150/CC330 in Service Support contract – which may include oversight and support of other project deliverables.  You will promote the values of L3 within your work teams to promote a professional culture and ensure care of maintenance. You will ensure that teams are properly trained to work in accordance with Transport Canada as well as DTAES, (Directorate of Technical Airworthiness and Engineering Support), aviation procedures, policies and regulations.

What you will do:

In the role of Aircraft Maintenance Specialist you will be supporting the development, implementation and execution of the quality assurance and maintenance programs and procedures for the CC150/CC330 programs. You will work closely with the associate managers and other staff members to define standards for the operations team. You will investigate current process and procedure gaps, document required changes in the CAR/Jira systems and ensure their timely closure through corrective action implementation and policy/procedure changes. Your role in training in conjunction with procedure and process improvement will allow for feedback loops that optimize AME training and compliance with respect to the MPM/MCD. In this role, you may also be supporting maintenance planning activities such as: service checks, weekly checks, A-Check, C-Check and other special projects with respect to ensuring accuracy of the documentation, reviewing or modifying current documentation per approved internal processes and supporting the associate managers in planning these activities with the AMEs and Operational Support Staff (OSS).

Furthermore, as a Technical Trainer, with support of the MAS’ Training group, you will implement and maintain policies, programs, and procedures within the L3Harris training, authorization (TQA) management system, and will ensure compliance with all federal, provincial, local, and customer related to TQA requirements. The role will also serve as a subject matter expert in technical training and coaching for the Ottawa CC330 site. The Technical trainer must serve as a change agent and demonstrate the ability to guide operations leaders in implementing training programs that positively maintain and improve standards. The technical trainer will assess employee capabilities, ensure training plans are in place and follow employees through their on-the-job training plan to ensure they acquire the skillset and knowledge required to perform their role adequately and within their licenses authority. They will act as the on-site trainer leveraging previous and newly acquired experience to support the operations team in fulfilling their daily duties safely and efficiently.

  • Monitor the competencies of the persons performing maintenance and the operational capability of the organization. Fulfillment of this criterion includes participation in the development, review, implementation and internal audit of training plans, in-service training plans, corrective action plans and quality system procedures, the establishment of refresher training and requirements for airworthiness functions;
  • Use the internal Learning Management system (LMS), SAP and Oracle to determine the training needs, ensure training and qualifications records and employee skills report data are up to date;
  • Impart knowledge to personnel in the form of coaching, on-the-job training, briefings, and information sessions, or arranging for such by delegating to Lead Hands or qualified personnel;
  • Ensure that personnel who are authorized to perform work have the knowledge, experience, training, and competence to satisfactorily fulfill the tasks within their scope of authority;
  • Analyze, participate, respond and document corrective action requests (CARs);
  • Create and update departmental procedures. Train employees on new procedures and policies while also ensuring understanding and compliance;
  • Initiate, propose and participate in continuous improvement initiatives while also encouraging other employees;
  • Prepare and participate in Organizational Health and Safety (OHS) committee meetings and follow up actions;
  • Complete accident / incident reports and assist L3 auditors during their visits and follow-up on actions;
  • Perform other tasks and duties as assigned by your immediate supervisor.

Required Skills and Experiences:

  • Hold a valid Transport Canada M2 license;
  • Minimum of 8 years of prior related experience;
  • Acceptable knowledge of CARs & TAM for the role;
  • Sound knowledge of maintenance, tooling and material support program relevant to area of responsibility;
  • Sound knowledge of applicable processes, forms and instructions related to the area of responsibility;
  • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, presentation);
  • Proficient computer and technical application skills;
  • Ability to inspire employees and collaborators in a positive manner;
  • Good oral and written communication skills in both languages (French and English), an asset;
  • Knowledge of laws and policies related to the environment, health and safety at work;
  • Strong teamwork, interpersonal, problem-solving, and analysis and teaching skills;
  • Exhibits sound judgment and professionalism in all situations;
  • Self-directed, with demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and assess priorities effectively.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Must be eligible for registration with the Controlled Goods Program;
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a government of Canada Reliability status and Secret Level 2/NATO Secret security clearance;
  • Must be eligible to meet the requirements for U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
