Job Description:

L3Harris Imaging and Laser Systems is seeking a Systems Engineering Associate to join our team in Orlando, FL. This position is designed for individuals who are eager to learn and grow within the field of systems engineering, particularly in the area of laser transmitter and laser systems development applications. The Associate Systems Engineer will be a key member of the ALST Engineering team in a multi faceted engineering role.  This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience and develop skills that are critical in laser systems analysis and requirements management.  The position includes structured training sessions and on-the-job learning experiences, allowing you to learn to interpret and enforce system requirements generation, hardware selection trade studies, design implementation in system architecture development, system partitioning, integration and testing of the overall system, and assessing unit or system performance

Essential Functions:

  • Ability to support analyzing and modeling of the laser system to performance requirements
  • Ability to support development of characterization testing of laser transmitter modules and laser systems to support design verification testing and qualification testing.
  • Monitor and define priorities for the projects he/she is working on a daily basis.  Status reporting.
  • Responsible for ensuring that specified quality standards are met for all tasks completed.
  • Demonstrates ethical and professional behavior in accordance with company values
  • Ability to be successful in a fast-paced work environment

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 0 to 2 years of prior related experience. 
  • United States citizenship is required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid U.S. Passport.
  • Able to travel within the US. Typically, less than two trips per year.
  • Able to work weekends and evenings as required to meet company objectives.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Support hands-on integration & testing of complex subsystems across all interfaces (i.e., mechanical, electrical, and software).
  • Highly proficient in the operation of test equipment including Oscilloscopes, Signal Generators, Counter/Timers and DMMs
  • Strong work ethic and strong leadership skills with solid communication, interpersonal management and relationship building skills being a must.
  • Support hands-on integration & testing of complex subsystems across all interfaces (i.e., mechanical, electrical, and software).
  • Strong Office tool skills along with a general instrumentation hardware and software knowledge
  • Strong technical, analytical and critical thinking / reasoning skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings to perform work duties
  • Work under direct supervision using a prescribed set of processes and procedures
  • Work directly with engineers optimizing test processes and procedures
  • Lean, continuous improvement mindset
  • Familiarity with Military Specifications/Standards
  • Ability to lift 32lb
