Compensation Range: Between $140,500 - $190,500 annually

L3Harris is seeking a leader to oversee Business Development activities at our Montreal, QC location. The successful candidate will work closely with the Director of Business Development for Global Systems and the General Manager of the Canadian Maritime business, while partnering with government relations, technical teams, and functional organizations. This role is responsible for driving new business growth across our Canadian Maritime portfolio, with a particular focus on Marine Automation, Products, and Power Systems. The candidate will build and strengthen customer relationships, identify and shape new opportunities, and support the development of winning capture strategies. Additionally, this leader will communicate effectively within and outside the organization to explain and influence changes to practices, processes, and approaches. The role will implement operational plans and business strategies that deliver measurable impact on growth, customer engagement, and overall business outcomes.

Essential Functions: 

  • Develop and execute an effective plan and strategy for increasing orders, bookings and opportunity captures;
  • Develop and reinforce strong relationships with current and potential customers to facilitate ongoing and new business opportunities;
  • Establish strong and intimate relationships with key Canadian and international customers;
  • Manage new business capture throughout the business development cycle from planning, targeting and gathering information through proposing and eventual closure of the capture;
  • Provide proficient knowledge of L3Harris products, product applications, systems and solutions to peers, partners and potential customers to develop potential new business opportunities;
  • Develop bid and win strategies and PTW (price-to-win) for selected pursuits;
  • Determine current demand for products and services for both the company and its competitors including future product feature-set direction and roadmaps;
  • Assemble an effective team that produces a winning proposal;
  • Coordinate preparation of compelling opportunity reviews to internal leadership for approval;
  • Evaluate market and competitive conditions and develop competitive assessments;
  • Effectively translate technical understanding of our products and technology for purposes of customer communication and engagement;
  • Develop business forecasts for customers, market and product lines;
  • Estimate and manage new business funds used to pursue new business opportunities;
  • Participate in strategic planning for internal research and development;
  • Execute campaign strategies supporting business capture planning;
  • Lead / support business acquisition process milestone/gate reviews; to include opportunity identification, qualification, pursuit, pre-proposal, and proposal processes;
  • Manage the Canadian Business Area opportunity pipeline;
  • Demonstrate an ability to assess customer influence within customer organizations;
  • Demonstrate deep knowledge of Canadian and international acquisition processes and programs;
  • Proven track record of successful business capture;
  • Exceptional leadership and decision-making skills and strong interpersonal communication.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher with a minimum of 12 years of experience or post graduate degree and 10 years in the business development arena;
  • Experience leading new business pursuits;
  • Experience with ship and/or boat builders in international locations;
  • Experience engaging with senior executives at government agencies, major prime contractors, and commercial companies;
  • Established contacts within the Canadian and International Maritime community;
  • Understanding and familiarity with Canadian and international Marine automation, products and power systems;
  • Demonstrated ability in competitive analysis, customer analysis, win strategy development, proposal and color team leadership and price-to win analysis;
  • Disciplined, self-starting professional who can bring projects to closure with minimum direction, guidance and oversight;
  • Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills;
  • Travel up to 30% to support opportunity identification, pursuit, and capture;
  • Excellent computer skills with strong proficiency in Windows interface, Microsoft Office package (Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Access), and Microsoft Project.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Must be eligible for registration with the Controlled Goods Program;
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a government of Canada Reliability status and Secret Level 2/NATO Secret security clearance;
  • Must be eligible to meet the requirements for U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
