Essential Functions: 

L3Harris MAS, located in Mirabel (QC) and Ottawa (ON) is a subsidiary of L3Harris Technologies.

L3Harris MAS is a Canadian industry leader in platform In-Service Support (ISS) and systems integration for the Department of National Defence (DND) and aerospace Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs).  For over 50 years, L3Harris MAS has carried out the fleet management, repair, maintenance, and modernization of Canada’s Fighter jets, the CF-18s, as well as similar services for other international F/A-18 users.  Thanks to our extensive technical expertise and passionate employees, L3Harris MAS has also developed innovative and customized solutions for the ISS of other major fleets of the Canadian government, such as the CC-150 Polaris (Airbus 310), the CC-330 Husky (Airbus A330), the CP-140 Aurora aircraft, and the CH-148 Cyclone and CH-147F Chinook helicopters. L3Harris MAS was also recently selected as Canada’s Strategic Partner for F-35 Lightning Sustainment.  We also offer integrated Mission System solutions on business jets and other aircraft, as well as component repair and overhaul, design and manufacturing of aircraft parts, and state-of-the-art electronic publication solutions.  Finally, we partner within L3Harris to offer C4ISR products and support solutions to DND.

In choosing L3Harris MAS, you will be part of multidisciplinary work teams at the leading ISS provider for the Royal Canadian Air Force and part of an organization whose values – integrity, passion, and respect – are at the heart of our daily actions. 

What you will do:

As Director of Business Development (BD) at L3Harris MAS you will develop growth strategies and lead and execute capture and pursuit activities to ensure the future health of the company, with a particular focus on military airborne C4ISR solutions.

To achieve this, you will be called upon to:

  • Identify, develop and pursue opportunities for business growth to ensure L3Harris MAS meets or exceeds its annual financial targets;
  • Make a strong contribution to ensuring a healthy BD ‘Pipeline’ and business backlog in core business areas and adjacent markets;
  • Support Programs staff to maintain and ‘upsell’ their programs with their respective customers;
  • Create and maintain strong relationships with key customer stakeholders and potential partners to position L3Harris MAS for continued growth;
  • Organize and lead capture teams through the L3Harris capture process to position the company for success, including all BD-related colour teams (e.g. Blue Team, Black Hat Team);
  • Lead all capture planning, win strategy and teaming activities to increase L3Harris MAS’ probability of success (e.g. Teaming Agreements, Position-to-Win, Price-to-Win);
  • Secure buy-in from internal stakeholders and senior management to pursue and bid on opportunities (e.g. Gate Reviews);
  • Promote L3Harris MAS’ reputation and brand internally and externally (e.g. Tradeshows, Air Shows, conferences, publications, monthly manager’s meetings);
  • Assist in setting BD performance targets and working to achieve them;
  • Work with BD Operations to update and maintain the CRM database and other IT tools;
  • Work with Marketing & Communications (MARCOM) to promote L3Harris MAS in the marketplace;
  • Work with Engineering to define new technologies and capabilities to prioritize investment and prepare for market success;
  • Promote collaboration and teamwork between L3Harris Segments, Sectors and Divisions, as well as across MAS departments;
  • Promote and exemplify L3Harris values and ethics.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree in Science or Engineering (or work experience equivalent)
  • Minimum of 15 years’ experience working in the Aerospace or Defence sector
  • Must be fluent in English speaking and writing (French fluency is an asset)
  • Preference for military airborne C4ISR experience
  • Preference for past Business Development experience with large-scale and complex bids
  • Must be able to work in Mirabel (QC) or Ottawa (ON)

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Must be eligible for registration with the Controlled Goods Program;
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a government of Canada Reliability status and Secret Level 2/NATO Secret security clearance;
  • Must be eligible to meet the requirements for U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
