Job Description:

L3Harris is seeking an experienced Network Event Network Operations Engineer. The position requires a highly motivated self-starter, capable of following detailed instructions and completing assigned tasks on-schedule, while working with minimal direct supervision. This individual must have a demonstrated record of high performance, attention to detail, and must be thoroughly familiar with all types of telecommunications transmission mediums and understand FTI CPE and alarming.

This position requires a team player that is capable of performing in a dynamic team environment in support of a large nationwide customer. This individual will be a key support member of the FTI Primary Network Operations Control Center (PNOCC). This individual will work in hand with the TDM Tier II Lead on ensuring Network alarming and noise is maintained and silenced according with other departments requirements and Operations need to prevent Burst Traps. This individual will work closely with a geographically dispersed field service team to facilitate service restoration efforts involving complex network elements located throughout North America, with the assistance of TDM Tier II Engineers.  The Network Event Network Operations Engineer will directly interface with internal and external customers and service providers. They will be responsible for providing reporting at engineering level to other subgroups of the FTI program, supporting Network Operations, managing special projects. Must possess a demonstrated understanding of, and experience adhering to Change Management processes and procedures.

  • Review network event data and determine causes of alarms and events to determine root cause and resolution of network problems.
  • Proactively support Tier 1 to facilitate learning, provide technical direction, and support service restoration efforts.
  • Scheduling, tracking and performing maintenance on FTI CPE and services.
  • Submits Program Tracking Reports (PTR) for facility, equipment, and service changes.
  • Orders replacement parts for repair activities and tracks shipment.
  • Monitor, analyze, and troubleshoot network events
  • Perform initial evaluations of outages for potential operational impacts to the user community
  • Perform root cause analysis to determine why the device is alarming
  • Document incidents and maintenances through Remedy
  • Facilitate collaboration across multiple support groups, vendors and customers
  • Support Tier 2 projects and operations
  • Update and maintain process documentation
  • Provide real-time and ongoing reporting to management groups

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. Graduate Degree or equivalent with 0 to 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 6 years of prior related experience.
  • Experience in networking technologies experience with SONET and/or Time Division Multiplexing (TDM).
  • Experience in a networking, engineering, or information technology related field

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Experience working with layer one through four of the OSI model
  • Experience with Network Management System (NMS) applications to monitor and manage network systems
  • Strong problem solving skills to logically assess and identify problems, determining an effective plan of action for resolution
  • Exceptional verbal and written customer service skills
  • Experience with troubleshooting Linux systems, with a focus on VHF technologies
  • Operational awareness of FAA operations for air traffic control
  • Experience as a NOS working in the FTI PNOCC troubleshooting.
  • Understanding of NAS Operations ticket management and scheduled maintenance processes and procedures.
  • Knowledge of event and alarm correlation.
  • Experience working with minimal supervision and ability to lead in a team environment.
  • Project management skills capable of adhering to deadlines and completion of tasks according to project schedule.
