L3Harris is seeking an experienced, proactive, and solutions-focused Director & Associate General Counsel – Litigation to manage a broad range of litigation, alternative dispute resolution, and pre-litigation disputes in global company environment. This role reports to the Vice President & Associate General Counsel - Litigation.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing an array of programs to assist the in-house legal team in maximizing the value of the legal services provided to the company internally and procured externally.

Responsibilities:
Litigation Execution:
- Represent the Company in judicial proceedings such as depositions, settlement conferences, arbitrations, mediations, and judicial hearings.
- Negotiate, research, draft, revise, and / or analyze agreements, contracts, memoranda, legal correspondence, and other legal documents.
- Engage in factual investigation, analyze complex legal and factual issues, conduct extensive legal research, independently develop, recommend and present defense strategies on a wide range of lawsuits and disputes.
- Respond to subpoenas, attorney demand letters and agency matters, including government-initiated inquiries and audits.
- Negotiate for the dismissal or other favorable resolution of cases at all stages in the litigation process.
- Prepare witnesses for deposition and trial in coordination with outside counsel.
- Lead the review, triage, and coordination of responses for service of process (SOP), subpoenas, and requests for information (RFIs).
- Collaborate with and provide support to Legal Department attorneys in L3Harris’s business segments as well as its business leaders on active or threatened litigation and disputes to manage risks, ensure compliance, and favorably resolve disputes.
- Work closely with Risk Management, Workers’ Compensation and outside counsel to ensure effective reporting, management, risk assessment and oversight of personal injury, property damage and WC claims;
- Coordinate with Risk Management and other stakeholders to maximize recovery of legal fees, costs and judgments for covered claims.
- As needed, lead or support internal and investigations across the enterprise in coordination with Ethics & Compliance, Global Security, Human Resources, and Information Technology teams.
- Coordinate with Corporate Communications on legal matters that may attract media interest; support the drafting of holding statements and communications plans.
- Oversee preparation of Litigation Reports and Legal letters; work closely with L3Harris outside auditors.
- Provide oversight and guidance on Legal Reserves across the enterprise to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Maintain knowledge of current and emerging laws, regulations, and trends.
- Demonstrate advanced knowledge of managing all aspects of complex litigation and alternative dispute resolution, including successfully resolving disputes to avoid litigation.
Team Leadership & Outside Counsel Management:
- Support Litigation VP with several aspects of department management including legal operations, policy reviews and updates, development of standard work, department staffing, goals and training.
- Managed Outside counsel to budget; assist in the preparation, review and approval of all pleadings, briefs, and other filings, develop and implement case and settlement strategy, manage discovery, and prepare matters for trial in concert with Outside Counsel.
- Supervise Litigation Paralegals, E-Discovery managers and other legal staff in the performance of their duties.
- Identity and promote opportunities for growth and development for department staff and help build the talent pipeline, eliminate single points of failure, and participate in talent reviews and succession planning for key roles
- Oversee and coordinate the L3Harris Legal Learning series program in partnership with internal stakeholders and outside counsel.
Legal Operations & E-Discovery
- Support the Legal Operations & E-Discovery Teams to drive operational change and modernization through the design and implementation of systems, processes, and tools aimed at promoting the day-to-day efficiency and effectiveness of the Legal team.
Qualifications:
- Law degree and member in good standing of the bar of at least one U.S. state.
- Minimum of 12-15 years of litigation experience.
- At least 10 years of managing and negotiating with outside counsel, controlling litigation costs, and loss recovery opportunities.
- Eligibility and ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance
Preferred Additional Skills:
The successful candidate will bring 12-15 years of best-in-class law firm and/or Fortune 500 in-house experience with a focus in litigation. Experience working in-house for Aerospace & Defense, Government Contracting and/or Technology companies is preferred.
The successful candidate will have demonstrated the ability to articulate, evaluate, and weigh business and legal risks to deliver practical advice and achieve successful outcomes. S/he will need the ability to oversee and lead multiple complex projects concurrently, manage competing priorities, and facilitate alignment between executive level stakeholders. S/he will be a strong strategic and analytically driven leader that will synthesize and communicate complex information into simple effective strategies up, down and across the enterprise. S/he will be adaptable, pragmatic, self-motivated, and decisive.

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in Colorado State, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Vermont and New York State is $157,000-$291,000. For California, Seattle, Washington D.C., Maryland Greater Washington D.C. area, the city of Denver, Washington State and New York City, the salary range for this role is $180,500-$335,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
