Job Description:
Support for the CRADA between the U.S. Air Force Academy and L3Harris Technologies to collaboratively advance defense technology and analytical capabilities by engaging cadets in real-world projects that address critical questions in automation, artificial intelligence, and mission analysis. Duties include the following activities
Essential Functions:
- Research and Development: Engage in research and development activities to advance automation workflows and artificial intelligence integration as specified in the Joint Work Plan.
- Project Management: Assist in managing project timelines, ensuring that milestones are met, and coordinating with both the Air Force Academy and L3Harris Technologies.
- Data Analysis: Perform data analysis to develop performance scoring metrics for the LHXelerator program and contribute to mission analysis tasks.
- AI Integration: Work on integrating artificial intelligence into S&T meeting opportunities to better track and post attendance.
- Technical Reporting: Prepare and submit detailed technical reports summarizing research activities, findings, and progress towards project objectives.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with L3Harris Technologies' staff and other stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and teamwork.
- Technical Documentation: Develop and maintain technical documentation for all research and development activities, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Presentation and Communication: Present research findings and project updates to both the Air Force Academy and L3Harris Technologies, as well as participate in meetings and discussions.
- Innovation and Problem Solving: Apply innovative thinking and problem-solving skills to overcome technical challenges and contribute to the development of new technologies and methodologies.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for this role is a rising senior from the United States Air Force Academy majoring in Operations Research. They possess a strong foundation in quantitative analysis, statistical methods, and optimization techniques, making them well-equipped to handle complex data-driven projects. With experience in programming languages such as Python, R, or MATLAB, they are adept at developing algorithms and integrating artificial intelligence into practical applications. The cadet has demonstrated excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in team settings, ensuring effective communication and project management. Their academic background and hands-on experience in operations research uniquely position them to contribute to advancing automation workflows and mission analysis within L3Harris Technologies.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Skilled in MATLAB, Python, R, and Excel for advanced data analysis and optimization.
- Experienced in developing and implementing AI models using machine learning algorithms.
- Strong technical writing and presentation skills for clear communication of complex concepts.
