Job Description:
L3Harris Technologies is actively seeking a Senior Manager, Operations – CCA Manufacturing to lead our Manufacturing Shared Services organization. This key leadership role is responsible for overseeing the production of complex, ruggedized circuit card assemblies (CCAs) in a high-mix, fast-paced manufacturing environment. The Shared Services organization supports specialized work cells equipped with advanced automated equipment, including Surface Mount Technology (SMT), Conformal Coating, Selective Solder, Automated Staking, and the Advanced Rework Lab, which support various business areas across the site.
The Senior Manager, Operations will have direct oversight of approximately 70 employees, including the Process Engineering Team, Production Supervisors across several shifts, and the Technical Services team (comprised of lab custodians, maintenance personnel, a tooling shop, and manufacturing supplies purchasing). This role focuses on providing leadership, direction, and development to ensure seamless coordination and efficient, high-quality manufacturing operations.
Essential Functions:
- Provide strategic and day-to-day leadership for the Manufacturing Shared Services organization, ensuring alignment with business objectives for safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
- Serve as the factory’s champion for automated equipment, including SMT, Conformal Coating, Selective Solder, Automated Staking, and the Advanced Rework Lab; manage the evaluation, selection, and implementation of new equipment and technology.
- Lead and mentor the Process Engineering Manager, who, in turn, drives process improvements, resolves technical challenges, supports new product introductions, and executes strategies for optimal utilization, maintenance, and continuous improvement of automated manufacturing equipment and work cells.
- Lead and mentor multiple Production Supervisors across shifts to ensure effective workforce management, high productivity, and adherence to production schedules.
- Lead and mentor the Technical Services Manager, who oversees lab custodians, maintenance personnel, the tooling shop, and manufacturing supplies purchasing, ensuring operational readiness and support for all business areas.
- Act as the main representative with the industrial supplier for the facility. Review spend, identify savings opportunities, and determine where supplier can provide additional value in the factory.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, quality, supply chain, etc.) to optimize material flow, equipment utilization, and resource allocation.
- Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and professional development within the Shared Services organization.
- Ability to obtain a US Security Clearance
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 12 years of prior related experience. Graduate Degree with a minimum of 10 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 16 years of prior related experience.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- 5+ years of experience with Surface Mount Technology (SMT) and Conformal Coating processes in electronics manufacturing.
- 5+ years of experience in Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Demonstrated experience leading multi-disciplinary teams in a high-mix, fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities.
- Proven track record of evaluating, selecting, and implementing advanced automated manufacturing equipment and technologies.
- Six Sigma Green Belt, Black Belt, or equivalent certification.
- Previous Operations Management experience in a high-mix electronics manufacturing facility.
- In addition to the required degree, a degree specifically in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, or Industrial Engineering is preferred
