Job Description:

The Quality Technician C (QTC) performs MIL-STD-810 environmental tests in the Environmental Test Lab and Firing Range, while supporting and interfacing with Quality, Operations, and Engineering personnel. This role involves testing various night vision systems and laser aiming devices to ensure they can withstand weapon shock and maintain accuracy.

Essential Functions:

  • Perform MIL-STD 810 testing and previous experience performing MIL-STD Environmental testing.

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience with firearms operation and maintenance.

  • Conduct tests using fully functional firearms and live ammunition on a live firing range to verify the performance parameters of Insight’s products.

  • Act as a proficient support individual contributor working under limited supervision.

  • Serve as a resource to other technicians.

  • Use testing knowledge and experience to resolve issues.

  • Independently evaluate products tested.

  • Record and compile test data for reports.

  • Set up and operate environmental test chambers, environmental test equipment, vibration equipment, electronic test stations, and other equipment ranging from complex automated test equipment to individual test instruments.

  • Perform basic equipment and product troubleshooting when necessary.

  • Support the training, mentoring, and coaching of lab personnel in the technical requirements of product and MIL-STD-810 testing.

  • Monitor work instructions for updates and report deviations from standards to appropriate resources for review.

  • Maintain work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follow prescribed safety procedures.

  • Conduct daily walkthroughs inspecting all work areas for cleanliness, identifying issues or areas for improvement, and working with the team to resolve them.

  • Understand and maintain commitments to test schedules and production plans.

  • Available to work overtime on some evenings and weekends, often with short notice.

  • Applied knowledge of firearms and firearms safety practices.

  • Computer skills and knowledge of test equipment.

  • Capable of supporting engineering development efforts independently, including developing and completing thermal and/or vibrational surveys, pressure and/or air flow instrumentation, thermocouples, and data loggers.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 6 years of prior quality experience or 2 years post-Secondary/associate’s degree with 2 years of prior quality experience. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous military service and/or law enforcement experience.

  • Knowledge of optical measurement systems.

  • Experience in firing range instruction or operation.

  • Exceptional manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.

  • Proficiency in handling intricate tasks, performing precise movements, and attention to detail.

  • Proficient in MS Office.
