Job Description:
The Contracts Principal provides senior leadership for the Missile Solutions Segment Contracts organization focusing strategically and tactically to drive discipline in the contract lifecycle, to expand the company’s solid rocket motor capacity, from proposal development to closeouts, including negotiations and change management for large complex contracts and subcontracts with the US Government and international customers.
Essential Functions:
Proposal Development, Negotiations, and Definitization:
- Lead/support the development of proposals for large, complex cost plus and fixed price multi-year contracts.
- Conduct negotiations and definitize contracts ensuring alignment with company policies and financial success and objectives.
- Manage and/or lead contract administrators in contract lifecycle from initial proposal through execution, change management, and close-out.
Contract Management:
- Manage large cost-plus and fixed-price, complex proposals, contracts, and initiatives of strategic importance to the organization.
- Improve existing policies and processes, or establish new approaches and concepts, for consideration.
Communication and Relationship Building:
- Exhibit strong written and verbal communication within and outside the organization, including with customers and vendors to develop strong, ongoing relationships.
- Conduct briefings to senior leaders and customers.
Leadership and Expertise:
- Recognized as an internal subject matter expert and thought leader with broad experience across multiple areas.
- Viewed as a Contracts expert by peers in and outside the organization.
- Provide guidance, coaching, and training to Contracts employees and other functions/department.
- Recommend tactics and strategies that will directly impact overall business or functional results.
Supply Chain and Compliance:
- Work closely with government stakeholders and corporate representatives for Legal, Contracts, Export, Import, Customs/Traffic, Intellectual Property, and Anti-Bribery Compliance.
- Experience in supply chain management a plus to help partner and drive alignment between contracts and subcontracts.
Problem-Solving:
- Possess strong problem-solving skills required to analyze problems, understand root causes, and respond with recommendations for corrective actions and improvements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 12 years of prior relevant Contracts experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 10 years of prior related Contracts experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 16 years of prior related Contracts experience.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Subject matter expertise in Government contracting. International contracting experience, a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in business or related field
- 8+ years of experience with leadership in contracts management, including overseeing large, complex proposals and negotiations.
- Demonstrated experience in leading complex proposals and contracts and teams of Contracts professionals.
- Knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements related to proposal preparation, contract negotiation, and the FAR, DFAR, ITAR and other government procurement regulations.
