Job Description:
The Estimating & Pricing Specialist,is responsible for leading estimating and pricing activities for complex, high-value proposals and supporting proposal development from early strategy through negotiation, award, and post-award audit activities. This role serves as a key partner to cross-functional teams in developing compliant, competitive, and well-supported cost proposals aligned with customer requirements and company objectives.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience in proposal pricing, cost analysis, compliance, and pricing system administration, with the ability to identify significant cost drivers, assess risk, and support cost-off decisions. This position also serves as a site focal point for pricing system set-up, monitoring, and user access control.
Essential Functions:
- Lead estimating and pricing support for complex, high-value proposals.
- Identify and coordinate with cross-functional teams involved in implementing the statement of work, ensuring alignment across proposal inputs and cost elements.
- Analyze proposal requirements and develop pricing approaches using appropriate estimating and pricing methodologies.
- Identify significant cost drivers, perform risk analysis, and support development of target cost positions and cost trade studies.
- Prepare, review, and present estimate packages for management reviews, fact-finding, and customer evaluation.
- Evaluate moderately complex customer proposal requirements and determine pricing strategies consistent with applicable policies, procedures, and customer expectations.
- Assemble compliant cost proposals by integrating required pricing and supporting documentation.
- Support fact-finding, negotiations, post-award audits, and customer evaluation activities, including data analysis, reporting, and response development.
- Develop and apply estimating and pricing methodologies ranging from parametric or relationship-based approaches to simple cost models.
- Collect, analyze, and maintain cost and non-cost data in structured systems to support current estimates and historical cost analysis.
- Develop and maintain effective internal controls to ensure compliance with company policies, customer requirements, and applicable regulations.
- Participate in internal control reviews and audits and support corrective actions as needed.
- Serve as the site focal point for the Huntsville location for program set-up, monitoring, and user access control within the company’s proprietary pricing system.
- Maintain data integrity, system controls, and proper access governance for pricing-related systems and tools.
- Utilize ProPricer proficiently to develop, analyze, and maintain proposal pricing data.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 9 years of relevant experience, or graduate degree with a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience; or in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 13 years of relevant experience.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Experience in estimating, pricing. proposal analysis, contracts support, finance, or a related business function.
- Experience supporting complex proposals and developing cost/pricing submissions.
- Knowledge of pricing methodologies, cost analysis, and proposal support processes.
- Experience supporting proposal reviews, fact-finding, negotiations, and audit activities.
- Experience developing, maintaining, or applying internal controls in a compliant business environment.
- Proficiency in ProPricer.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively across functions and manage multiple priorities under deadline-driven conditions.
- Experience in Aerospace & Defense or U.S. Government contracting environment.
- Working knowledge of FAR, DFARS, and Truthful Cost or Pricing Data requirements.
- Experience supporting customer proposal evaluations, cost volume development, and negotiation strategy.
- Experience with historical cost databases, pricing system administration, or proprietary estimating tools.
- Strong understanding of proposal compliance and audit readiness.
- Ability to interpret statements of work and translate technical/programmatic requirements into pricing strategies.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to develop clear, supportable pricing documentation.
- Ability to communicate effectively with program management, finance, contracts, supply chain, and technical teams.
