Job Description:
L3Harris Technologies is seeking a Specialist, Systems Engineer/Architect. The ideal candidate is responsible for the daily technical and operational activities of a high‑performance System Integration Laboratory (SIL) environment supporting advanced airborne ISR ground exploitation systems. This role combines hands‑on technical oversight, upgrade, installation and maintenance of the system. This position has a direct impact on system readiness, mission success, and the continuous improvement of SIL workflows and capabilities.
Essential Functions:
- Interfaces with the supervisor, customer, software development engineers, project engineering, and program management to determine SIL architecture and support requirements.
- Assists in planning / executing periodic SIL upgrades to new equipment and software configurations.
- Review and evaluate system diagrams to ensure design details trace to system requirements.
- Understand physical architecture incorporating voice and data capability across multiple security domains.
- Install, test, troubleshoot, and verify system upgrades and system infrastructure to meet customer performance expectations.
- Translate the voice of the customer into system level requirements.
- Understand test, integration, verification, and validation planning.
- Author and execute effective verification test procedures ensuring system performance and capabilities meet system requirements.
- Perform hands-on test, integration, and verification of software and/or hardware.
- Monitors ongoing test/integration activities and provides technical support, troubleshooting and recommendations for repair or replacement of defective or outdated equipment.
- Familiar with installation and configuration of Virtual Machines (VMs) in a Linux environment.
- Starts up all SIL equipment and verifies system readiness for testing.
- Excellent written, oral, and presentation communications skills.
- Candidate must be willing and able to work a flexible job schedule to include occasional overtime.
- Candidate must be willing to travel both CONUS and OCONUS up to 10% of the time.
- The candidate will be required to obtain and maintain CompTIA Security+ certification.
- Active Secret Clearance at the time of hire with the ability to obtain a Top Secret with SCI.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related systems engineering experience.
- Graduate Degree or equivalent with 2 years of prior related systems engineering experience.
- In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 8 years of prior related systems engineering experience.
- Demonstrated understanding of hardware test strategies, fault isolation, automated tests, use of diagnostic test equipment, and generating and interpreting test requirements.
- Demonstrated experience in systems engineering, systems architecture, systems analysis and design, system performance modeling, integration, and/or model-based systems engineering.
- Demonstrated experience operating in a Linux environment.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Active Top Secret with SCI security clearance.
- CompTIA Security+ Certification.
- Experienced with DOORS and/or Jira.
