Job Description:

Quality Engineer will report to the Quality Engineering Manager as part of the Quality Organization.

The Specialist, Quality Engineer is responsible for leading root cause and corrective action efforts, Zero Defect Plan (ZDP) initiatives, and cross-functional quality improvement activities in support of business and customer requirements. This role drives efforts to reduce defects, customer escapes, rework, and cost of poor quality (COPQ) while improving compliance, process performance, and overall product quality.

Essential Functions

• Lead and facilitate 8D investigations resulting from customer escapes, DCMA Level II CARs, and internal quality issues.
• Partner with Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, Supplier Quality, Quality Control, and senior leadership to implement effective and sustainable quality improvement actions.
• Drive corrective and preventive actions to address internal nonconformances, customer escape drivers, defects, rework, and cost of poor quality.
• Support development and implementation of mistake-proofing solutions to improve process reliability and product quality.
• Lead ZDP teams in achieving or exceeding key strategic quality metrics, including COPQ, customer escapes, defects per thousand hours (DPTH), and quality/customer yield improvement.
• Analyze defect, customer escape, and rework data to identify trends and translate findings into actionable improvement opportunities.
• Support quality planning activities associated with New Product Development (NPD), including APQP requirements, as applicable.
• Ensure compliance with internal quality policies, procedures, and governance processes, including Corrective Action Board requirements.
• Ensure compliance with applicable customer, company, industry, regulatory, and statutory requirements, including DCMA, DoD, FAA, and federal, state, and local regulations.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, or a graduate degree with a minimum of 2 years of related experience; in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 8 years of related experience.
• Proven knowledge of quality engineering, manufacturing quality, continuous improvement, or a related technical discipline.
• Demonstrated ability to facilitate and influence cross-functional teams in support of quality and business objectives.
• Strong analytical skills, including the ability to evaluate data, identify trends, determine root cause, and implement effective corrective actions.
• Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.
• Proven ability to influence stakeholders and drive action in a matrixed environment without direct authority.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in a manufacturing, aerospace, defense, or other highly regulated environment.
• Working knowledge of quality tools and methodologies such as 8D, ZDP, FMEA, RCCA, APQP, and mistake-proofing techniques.
• Understanding of aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) operations.
• Experience using data analysis and reporting tools such as Excel, PowerPoint, and PowerBI.
• Lean and/or Six Sigma experience preferred.
