Job Requirements:
L3Harris is currently seeking a Senior Manager, Software Engineer to join our team. This on-site position will be based at our Greenville, TX facility and offers a 9/80 schedule.
Essential Functions:
- Serve as functional leader for business area, managing a team ranging from entry-level to experienced engineering professionals. Functional leadership includes:
- Ensuring programs are staffed with sufficient engineers with the right skill set and experience level to meet program demand.
- Managing individual performance including constructive appraisal, compensation and disciplinary actions
- Providing mentorship and guidance to team members
- Setting team goals, expectations, priorities and supporting organizational strategic goals/objectives
- Inspiring, motivating and engaging engineers
- Teams training and knowledge transfer
- Advocate, utilize and manage disciplined program-based metrics/controls to make fact-based decisions
- Foster the development of talent and expertise within the organization
- Engage and partner with programs and program leadership to ensure that program needs are being met and risks are mitigated
- Work in partnership with interdisciplinary teams to achieve strategic objectives for both the business and functional areas
- Champion process and technology improvements, operational methodologies, and discipline enhancements that improve how the team operates, increase productivity and better positions the team for future success
- Ensure that software designs, practices, and products meet organizational standards and business needs
- Effectively communicate both verbally and through written communication within organization, between disciplines, with programs and with upper management. Communication traits should include clarity and conciseness, active listening, strength of conviction, empathy and understanding, and effective questioning.
- Position requires financial acumen including a basic understanding of earned value with the ability to discern how operational changes can enhance profitability
- Position may serve as the organization’s primary point of contact for one or more programs requiring engineering manager to manage scope, program execution, cost and schedule.
Qualifications:
- Minimum Active Secret DoD security clearance, with ability to obtain/maintain Top Secret/SCI, which requires U.S citizenship.
- Demonstrated functional management experience.
- Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 12 years of prior relevant experience.
- Graduate Degree and a minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
- In lieu of a degree, minimum of 16 years of prior related experience.
- Demonstrated experience developing, integrating, maintaining and managing large complex software development efforts.
Preferred Skills:
- Degree in Engineering or technical is preferred.
- Existing TS/SCI Clearance.
- Demonstrated experience with software development experience using C, C++, or Java that aligns to role level.
- Demonstrated experience in Agile development methodologies and DEVOPs pipelines.
- Demonstrated experience leading engineering teams.
- Demonstrated experience as a Control Account Manager (CAM).
- Demonstrated knowledge of EVM (earned Value Management).
- Demonstrated experience managing programs using Integrated Master Schedules.
- Demonstrated ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Demonstrated experience managing competing priorities.
