Position Overview
L3Harris MAS plays a critical role in the In Service Support (ISS) of the Canadian CF 18 (Hornet) Fighter Aircraft Program. The Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME M) supports aircraft availability and airworthiness through the performance of propulsion, powertrain, and mechanical system maintenance activities, including inspections, repairs, testing, and verification tasks, in accordance with approved technical data, regulatory requirements, and customer standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance, inspection, repair, and modification activities on CF 18 propulsion and mechanical systems in accordance with applicable Technical Orders, work instructions, and quality standards;
- Participate in on type training and practical work to maintain and enhance technical competency;
- Conduct scheduled and unscheduled aircraft inspections and maintenance actions; report findings, deficiencies, and corrective actions to the Supervisor;
- Prepare aircraft for flight operations or customer acceptance, excluding tasks related to electrical systems;
- Accurately document non conformities, inspection results, and maintenance actions through completion of work orders, inspection reports, and technical documentation;
- Maintain a consistently high standard of workmanship, accountability, and discipline in all maintenance activities;
- Perform engine runs, engine test cell operations as applicable, and secondary ground feeding tests;
- Perform daily inspections of Aerospace Maintenance Support Equipment (AMSE) to confirm serviceability and compliance;
- Ensure strict adherence to all occupational health and safety policies, aviation safety standards, and environmental requirements;
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment at all times;
- Comply with tooling control procedures to ensure accountability and traceability;
- Assist with the preparation of required technical and administrative reports;
- Identify material and supply requirements and communicate needs to the Section Supply Coordinator in a timely manner; and
- Support team objectives by collaborating with and assisting other technicians and crew members as required.
Required Technical Competencies
Within the scope of individual qualifications and certifications, and training the AME M is expected to demonstrate competency in the inspection, verification, adjustment, repair, and replacement of complex aircraft systems and components, including but not limited to
- Landing gear systems;
- Hydraulic systems;
- Flight control systems;
- Air conditioning and Environmental Control Systems (ECS);
- Fuel systems;
- Weight and Balance (Mass and Centre of Gravity) inspections;
- Powertrain and related systems;
- Cell/Motor interface systems;
- Auxiliary panels and secondary power feeding systems;
- Borescope inspections; and
- Associated propulsion system components and subsystems.
Qualifications
- Graduation from a Transport Canada Civil Aviation (TCCA) recognized Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) Basic Training Program with an “M” (Mechanical) rating, in accordance with the applicable Career Framework.
Eligibility Criteria (Mandatory):
- Must be eligible for registration with the Controlled Goods Program;
- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a government of Canada “Reliability” status and Level 2 (Secret) security clearance.
- Must be eligible to meet the requirements for U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
