Job Description:
L3Harris Technologies is seeking an experienced and dynamic leader to serve as Director of Operations for its Electronic Warfare Division of the Spectrum Superiority Sector (S2) located at its Clifton, New Jersey facility. This role requires a highly-skilled leader capable of driving operational excellence across diverse functions, ensuring aligned efforts with organizational goals, and fostering an inclusive, motivated workforce focused on continuous improvement.
This position will be responsible for leading all aspects of the division’s operations and manufacturing strategy to ensure customers receive zero-defect products on time and within budget. Will oversee a cross-functional team of approximately 250+ employees, with 9 direct reports, spanning manufacturing, test, production planning, quality, depot/repairs, inventory management, government property, environmental health and safety, and continuous improvement. The role supports all company divisions and departments, interacts with internal and external stakeholders, and engages with current and potential customers and suppliers. They will focus on driving cultural improvements, reducing cost of poor quality (CoPQ), sustaining AS9100 certification, and managing operational execution of a high mix portfolio of electronic warfare products.
Essential Functions:
- Execute manufacturing objectives and strategies to meet completion goals while achieving results utilizing ethical and fair business practices
- Lead multi-disciplinary operation in manufacturing, supply chain, quality, inventory management, continuous improvement, and EH&S
- Serve as an effective coach/mentor
- Oversee succession planning, organizational and talent development
- Drive Lean/Quality initiatives within the Manufacturing base (labor and equipment), including:
- Kanban systems
- Mistake Proofing / Poke Yoke
- Factory Gembas
- 5S+1
- Total Productive Maintenance (TPM)
- Value Stream Mapping (VSM)
- Develop a world-class operations team through staffing, training, and talent management initiatives while serving as a role model for integrity, inclusion, and diversity
- Agent of change and proactive in implementing new processes to improve the Operations organization
- Present metrics and information to executive leadership on a reoccurring basis
- Manage internal customer relationships and priorities across a diverse product portfolio with competing interests
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 15 years of prior related experience. Graduate Degree with a minimum of 13 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 19 years of prior related experience.
- 8 years of progressive Operations experience to include at least 4 years of
- management experience.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Active TS/SCI Clearance preferred
- 8 years of Aerospace and Defense related experience preferred
- 8 years of progressive Operations experience to include at least 4 years of management experience, preferred
- Experience with Earned Value Management (EVM)
- Experience with Cost accounting both direct and indirect
- Experience in the following fields of Operational Excellence:
- Understanding of lean principles around pull systems, mix/max controls, etc.
In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in New Jersey area is $148,500- $275,000.00.
