About Us: At L3 Harris, we are at the forefront of innovation in the Space Propulsion & Power Systems segment. We are seeking a passionate and driven Associate Engineer to join our Component, Process, and Materials Engineering team. Your Role: As an Associate Engineer in our Material Laboratory group, you will play a crucial role in supporting our Space and Defense products. You will be responsible for conducting materials-related testing and providing technical support for both metallic and non-metallic materials. Your work will involve performing metallographic techniques, preparing and evaluating test metallurgical specimens, and learning various laboratory techniques.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct testing to support failure analysis, in-process testing, and development testing.
  • Perform metallurgical lab sample cutting, mounting, and polishing.
  • Evaluate metallic and non-metallic specimens for research, development, and failure analysis.
  • Operate test equipment such as vacuum ovens, microscopes, and micro hardness testers.
  • Follow specific safety protocols and use provided Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Work comfortably with acids and caustic materials.

What We’re Looking For:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Materials Engineering, Metallurgy, or a related Chemical/Physical science field from a qualified institution.
  • U.S. citizenship.

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with industry specifications and standards.
  • Strong communication and technical presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $88,000.00 - $103,000.00. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. L3Harris also offers a variety of benefits, including relocation stipend, 401(k), EAP, and company paid holidays. The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of collective bargaining agreements.
