Essential Functions:

This role requires a deep understanding of advanced digital design principles, signal integrity, and high-speed data transmission. As a Lead Electrical Engineer (EE), you will be a crucial member of our engineering team, responsible for the end-to-end design and development of high-speed digital electronic modules and circuit boards. Your responsibilities will include reviewing and deriving hardware requirements, developing design concepts that meet these requirements, and performing detailed electrical design of circuitry. This may encompass microprocessors, program and data memories, FPGAs, voltage regulators, power reset sequencers, analog circuitry, and interface transceiver circuits.

You will capture designs as schematic diagrams using our CAD tools, participate in design reviews, and collaborate with our ECAD department for layout and routing on printed wiring boards (PWBs). Once the PWB is fabricated and populated with components by our on-campus assembly facility, you will test and verify the electronics assembly, and support firmware and software integration. Our rigorous design review and documentation process includes the creation of requirements specifications, design documents, and comprehensive test plans and procedures.

  • Lead the design and development of high-speed digital CCAs from concept through production.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including hardware, software, and systems engineering to ensure cohesive product development.
  • Perform signal integrity analysis and simulations to optimize high-speed data paths.
  • Develop and review detailed schematics, layout designs, and documentation.
  • Conduct design reviews and provide technical guidance to junior engineers.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex design issues.
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in high-speed digital design technologies.
  • Minimal travel required.

Qualifications:

  • BSEE required; MSEE preferred.
  • Minimum of 15 years of professional experience specializing in high-speed digital CCA board design.
  • Proven track record of successful high-speed digital design projects.
  • Proficient in debugging and testing high-speed digital circuits using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and other test equipment.
  • Extensive experience with schematic capture and PCB layout for high-speed digital circuits.
  • Experience with standard CAD tools, Mentor Graphics Xpedition preferred.
  • Basic programming skills in languages such as Python, C, or MATLAB for test automation and data analysis a plus
  • Understanding of standard electronic interfaces, such as: I2C, USB, RS-232, Ethernet, SATA, PCIe
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Must have a U.S. Government Secret security clearance.

  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills with the ability to quickly isolate and resolve issues.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to collaborate with cross-functional teams and provide status updates.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and contribute to collaborative projects.
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy and quality in design and testing.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks to meet project deadlines.

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $137,242 - $245,965. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. L3Harris also offers a variety of benefits, including health and disability insurance, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, EAP, education assistance, parental leave, paid time off, and company-paid holidays. The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of collective bargaining agreements.
