About the role 

L3Harris Communication Systems is a world leader in ground tactical and airborne mission communication solutions and a global provider of ground based C4 systems and transportable SATCOM terminals. We are focused on delivering advanced systems to meet the needs of our customers, uniting multiple forms of communication together, and covering communication over air, ground, sea, and space. 

If you’re ready to take the next step in your career in systems engineering, we have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Systems Engineer to join our team supporting the Tactical Land SATCOM program at Hamilton.

Your work will encompass engineering changes including modification or enhancements, technical investigations, obsolescence management and disposal of L3Harris and third-party products. This role will assist in maintaining compliance with regulatory frameworks, contractual obligations, and customer requirements

What the role will involve

The responsibilities of your role will include the following:

  • Coordinate engineering service providers (including suppliers) to ensure clear responsibilities, processes, and timelines for SATCOM projects.
  • Lead engineering changes and enhancements, covering requirements management, design, verification, and reporting.
  • Conduct Technical Information Reviews (TIR) impacting fit, form, or function, and advise the SATCOM program office.
  • Support technical investigations, resolving product issues and providing clear recommendations.
  • Manage lifecycle and supportability of Products Being Supported (PBS), including changes, issues, and roadmaps.
  • Respond to RFIs with accurate, timely updates to the SATCOM program office.
  • Contribute to contract status reporting, including performance, risks, and upcoming activities.
  • Maintain engineering plans, procedures, and CDRL deliverables.
  • Support coordination and delivery of engineering and technical activities across the SATCOM program.

What you’ll bring

To succeed in this role, you’ll need the following experience and skills;

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering recognised by Engineers Australia; examples include: Avionics, Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Systems, Software
  • Minimum of 6 years of engineering experience or equivalent experience.
  • Experience working in the Defence industry is a preference, though operating within a complex, large international business will also be considered
  • Experience in supporting small and large scale engineering projects
  • A background in sustainment will be highly regarded.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an Australian Government Security Clearance (AGSVA at the NV1 level.
