Job Summary:

We are looking for a Senior Manufacturing Manager to develop, implement and analyze manufacturing engineering plans and projects and communicates them to internal and external customers. They will define, develop and transfer manufacturing and engineering tools, strategies and systems. Other responsibilities include developing manufacturing strategies for specific products and processes, actively participating with engineering project teams in order to coordinate the release of new products. Lastly, they will estimate and tracksmanufacturing costs, determine time standards, and make recommendations for tooling and process requirements of new or existing product lines. Maintains records and reporting systems for coordination of manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • New Production Introductions: Lead and manage the introduction of new products into the manufacturing process. Collaborate with design and development teams to ensure smooth transitions from prototype to full-scale production.
  • Digital Transformation: Drive digital transformation initiatives within the manufacturing engineering department. Implement advanced manufacturing technologies and automation to enhance efficiency, quality, and productivity.
  • Electro-Mechanical Assembly Builds: Oversee the planning, execution, and optimization of electro-mechanical assembly builds. Ensure adherence to industry standards and best practices for assembly and integration.
  • Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance manufacturing efficiency, reduce waste, and improve product quality. Utilize Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Project Management: Manage and oversee manufacturing engineering projects from inception to completion. Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget. Coordinate with cross-functional teams to achieve project objectives and drive successful outcomes.
  • Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of manufacturing engineers. Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture, encouraging innovation and professional growth.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design, quality, supply chain, and production, to ensure alignment and successful execution of manufacturing projects.
  • Performance Metrics: Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of manufacturing processes. Analyze data to identify trends, assess progress, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Compliance and Safety: Ensure compliance with all relevant industry standards, regulations, and safety protocols. Promote a culture of safety and quality within the manufacturing engineering team.
  • Operational Planning: Develop and implement functional strategies and operational plans that directly impact short- to mid-term business results. Recommend and execute operational tactics to achieve overall functional goals.
  • Resource Management: Create workforce and staffing plans to ensure the availability of human capital necessary to accomplish departmental business results. Manage hiring, firing, promotion, and compensation decisions within the department.
  • Innovation and Problem Solving: Improve existing processes and systems using significant conceptualization, reasoning, and interpretation. Develop or champion new concepts or technologies to solve complex problems and drive innovation.
  • Change Management: Lead change management efforts related to ERP and MRP systems within the manufacturing engineering department. Ensure accurate maintenance of bill of materials (BOM) and routers, and facilitate smooth updates and transitions in the systems to support manufacturing operations.
  • Budget Control: Oversee budget management for the manufacturing engineering department. Implement strategies to maximize direct employee utilization and ensure cost-effective use of resources.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Minimum of 12 years of prior related experience with a Bachelor's degree, or 10 years with a Graduate degree. In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 16 years of prior related experience.
  • Broad management and leadership knowledge to lead cross-department project teams or manage across the function.
  • Mastery-level knowledge within a specific technical area or broad expertise across multiple related job areas.
  • Extensive experience in new production introductions, digital transformation, and electro-mechanical assembly builds.
  • Knowledge of soldering standards such as J-std-001 and/or Mil-std-23200.
  • Proven experience in reading and interpreting assembly and wiring drawings/diagrams.
  • Strong understanding of production testing procedures, including high voltage and amperage testing.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage engineering teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make data-driven decisions.
  • Proficiency in data analytics tools such as Excel, Power BI, and other relevant software to analyze data, create reports, and visualize performance metrics.
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in digital manufacturing technologies and automation tools.
  • Experience in working with defense contracts and program management, ensuring compliance with specific requirements and managing related projects effectively.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Knowledge of Lean and Six Sigma methodologies is highly desirable.

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in California is $137,000- $254,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. L3Harris also offers a variety of benefits, including health and disability insurance, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, EAP, education assistance, parental leave, paid time off, and company-paid holidays. The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of collective bargaining agreements.
