Job Description:
We are seeking multiple Fabricators A/B/C to work at our West Palm Beach, FL facility to plan andperform difficult and unusual hand fabrication as well as other associated metal and composite fabrication processes in a developmental or production area. Work requires specialization as a fabricator with cross over capability to other disciplines in a less demanding capacity. Successful candidate will fabricate extremely high value rocket hardware with very thin wall in some cases.
The position may be filled at the level of the identified candidate.
Essential Functions:
- Fabricate chamber tubes to close tolerances using various precision instruments. Form, contour, spank, fit and inspect tubes using proper handling procedures to ensure configuration and quality requirements are met.
- Select and adapt proper tooling, methods, procedures and operational sequences to form and fabricate a variety of parts ranging from the simple to the unusual and difficult details and sub-assemblies, working from broad verbal instructions and complex drawings, work instructions and general specifications. Properly interpret geometric position and feature control specifications and use handbook formulae and applied math including trigonometry and algebra to perform calculations. Work with a variety of metals including stainless steel, aluminum, titanium, columbium, silver and others, using a variety of hand tools, machines and equipment.
- Assemble chamber and related components, sub-assemblies and details assuring proper alignment of details and related hardware using precision measuring instruments. Apply and remove necessary hardware and instrumentation in preparation for chamber furnace brazing, including loading and pressure checking. After chamber removal, perform visual inspection as required.
- Perform helium, thermal expansion and water pressure testing. Install and remove chamber from centroid as required in preparation for welding, machining and assembly operations. Use tooling and mechanical devices to install and fit complicated engine hardware.
- As required, assist assembly, heat treat, machine and welding, inspection and other functions and groups with operations relating to or involving rocket fabrication, rework, set up and assembly, and fabrication and preparation of details, parts or other items to be brazed, welded, heat treated, or modified. Examples include, but are not limited to: creating silver details, fabrication of A4 nozzle box section, engine T-box, etc. Make recommendations to modify details, tooling and processes as required for product improvements and operational efficiencies.
- Use a variety of fixed and variable measuring instruments to check dimensions and record results.
- Perform routine equipment servicing throughout the assigned area, as needed or directed, following specified procedures and written instructions such as operator checklists and to assure equipment operates properly.
- Maintain computerized and manual records, reports and logs on a variety of details and hardware such as, but not limited to, dimensions, repairs, precious metals and tube inventories. Operate hoists, lifting devices, and fork lift truck as required. Assist and/or guide others responsible for new part process tryout, repair and other specialized assignments.
- Comply with federal and state environmental and safety regulations to conform to company guidelines and procedures including the wearing of safety glasses, respirators, hearing protection, and other equipment used for handling, storage and disposal of hazardous chemicals. Ensure care in handling compressed gases to ensure safe working conditions and to preserve a healthy and safe environment.
- Perform other related duties of a comparable or lower skill level as assigned such as hydrostatics and helium testing on a wide variety of parts. As required, instruct and check work of one of two other fabricators to provide direction and coaching involving new processes, procedures and other quality related issues. Maintain a clean and orderly work area to comply with FOD requirements. Refer only the most unusual or difficult situations to working leader or supervisor.
- Pass a background investigation to obtain a security clearance (classified/secret)
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 3-4 years minimum related experience required.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- 2-3 years trade school highly desirable.
- Prior experience in the Aerospace industry is a plus
- Basic computer skills and the ability to navigate through manufacturing and quality systems.
- Experience working from specifications, complex drawings, work instructions, and other documents.
- Experience using various types of precision measuring instruments and deliver quality work
- Be detail oriented and have the ability to multi task
In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role is $33.76/hr - $51.91/hr. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
