About the Role

The role is centered around ownership of Engineering data that is used to drive decisions related to Engineering Project’s.  The successful candidate will be responsible for the Engineering data sources used to hold Engineering labour and non-labour forecasts, generation of reports and / or visuals that provide relevant information to Project Engineer’s and general ownership of tools / templates used by Project Engineering to generate project estimates.

Primary Responsibilities 

  • Provides business analytics and reporting to the Engineering functional area for projects / programs.
  • Identify and develop metrics by working with users and stakeholders to understand data visualization and reporting requirements.
  • Translate business results into meaningful metrics and recommendations aimed at improving performance within the Engineering Function.
  • Analyzes business processes and problems to formulate and develop recommendations to meet customer and / or internal project requirements.
  • Support Engineering Leadership in performing financial and business performance analysis.
  • Defines configuration specifications and business analysis requirements.
  • Accountable to manage & own:
    • Engineering Labour SQL Database
    • Excel templates used to generate project estimates
    • Power BI based visuals to support Engineering needs
    • Monthly ETC update process to update labour and non-labour forecasts efficiently
  • Execute and provide analysis of the Engineering labour supply and demand process
  • Analyze Engineering data to highlight trends to Project Engineer’s with regards to project health
  • Support set up of new projects in ERP-LN and JIRA as required
  • Support the continued improvement of the Engineering Knowledge Base data structure in Confluence to enable users in finding relevant data easily

Required Capabilities 

  • SQL Database development & query generation
  • Ability to interact with SQL databases through custom queries
  • Expert in Microsoft Excel data manipulation
  • Able to use Power BI to connect various data sources to create required visuals
  • JIRA administration, including project data management, user management, workflow management and other customizations
  • Excellent communication and problem solving skills and a willingness to iterate through changes to continuously improve Engineering’s data.

Education and Experiences 

  • Requires practical knowledge of job area typically obtained through education combined with experience.
  • Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience
    • Graduate Degree or equivalent with 0 to 2 years of prior related experience.
