Job Description:
L3Harris is actively seeking a Systems Engineer (SE) to support requirement development, design, development, test, and integration of complex, specialized hardware/software systems installed on ground and airborne platforms. In this role, the candidate will work with the Integrated Product Team (IPT) to ensure that the customer needs are understood, documented, and agreed too. They will support the technical solution development and help ensure the as-built product meets the requirement baseline. The candidate will possess proven work history that demonstrates their ability to work as a member of the development team.
Essential Functions:
- Design and develop physical architectures incorporating mission system equipment into airborne systems for military and commercial customers.
- The systems vary from program to program, so the ability to quickly learn and integrate new systems is critical.
- Requires a baseline understanding of electrical and mechanical systems.
- Translate customer and airworthiness requirements into unique verifiable system level requirements.
- Lead Program Integrated Product Teams of cross-disciplined engineers with internal and external members.
- Become a focal point for conversation with the customer on technical issues.
- Define requirement traceability methods.
- Perform the systems engineering trade study process.
- Evaluate trade studies for accuracy and completeness.
- Write subsystem specifications based on system level requirements.
- Evaluate alternative solutions and establish preliminary system design.
- Prepare effective presentations to communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical professionals.
- Ability to use standard Microsoft Office suite of applications.
- Ability to operate within a Product Lifecycle Manager (PLM); Teamcenter preferred.
- Excellent written, oral, and presentation communication skills.
- Work with subcontractors and US Government customers.
- Will work both independently and in a team environment with the ability to lead teams through a system development and integration cycle.
- Able to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret with SCI clearance.
- Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree with six (6) years prior integration mission systems on airborne platforms experience.
- Graduate Degree with four (4) years prior integration mission systems on airborne platforms experience.
- In lieu of a degree, minimum of ten (10) years prior integration mission systems on airborne platforms experience.
- Must be a US Citizen.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- An active TS/SCI clearance.
- DOORS experience.
- Digital Database Standards (ARINC 429, MIL-STD-1553) experience.
