Job Description:

The Sr. Specialist, Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) will support the management of the action and information requests received from suppliers. This involves cross-functional collaboration with the associated departmental owners of the actions in order to drive timely communication, execution, and completion. Sr. Specialist, SQE will orchestrate SQA activities to ensure that the supplier delivered products and/or services conforming to the Company’s contractual requirements by designing, implementing, evaluating and continually improving quality assurance, control methods, and systems. Sr. Specialist, SQE will communicate technical data and contractual requirements into a comprehensive, understandable, and functional quality plan; monitor and closely support manufacturing, inspection, and supplier functions that relate to product quality; coordinate with the stakeholders the establishment of government quality requirements and material review board activities; represent quality assurance in corrective action activities; and participate in audits or product evaluation to determine the effectiveness of the quality assurance program. This role will support onsite at suppliers' facilities in the Los Angeles region. 

Essential Functions:

  • Monitor, measure, and manage the coordination of supplier action and information requests with the applicable stakeholders to drive timely communication and completion.
  • Visit suppliers and perform investigation using root cause analysis tools to drive improvements into their processes.  Be accountable for assigned suppliers' performance and ensure suppliers are performing with a 100% quality rating.
  • Be an active contributor in Early Supplier Engagements such as Post Award Reviews (PAR), Supplier Manufacturing Readiness Reviews, and Control Plan activity. Perform as the leading contributor for PAR-Lites.
  • Work with suppliers to resolve issues with purchase order inspection packages. Investigate and report supplier quality history as requested by quality engineering or Quality & Mission Assurance (Q&MA) management.
  • Create reporting documents to status Supplier's Performance, Non-Conformance History, impact to the Company's CoPQ, and other metrics as assigned.
  • Participates in managing the supplier ratings/scorecard system and overseeing periodic meetings.
  • Review and approve First Article Inspections (FAI) in accordance with company and AS9102 requirements.
  • Perform periodic source inspections at assigned suppliers.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% including >150mi one way by vehicle required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant supplier experience.
  • Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related supplier experience.
  • In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related supplier experience.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • RCCA and investigation experience.
  • Synthesize and analyze data from several sources and develop a plan to take action based upon the data.
  • Working knowledge of AS9100 Aerospace Quality Management System Standard and AS9102, First Article Inspection Standard.
  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer strongly preferred.
  • Lean Six Sigma Blackbelt experience preferred.

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in Colorado State, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Vermont and New York State is $86,000-$159,500. For California, Seattle, Washington D.C., Maryland Greater Washington D.C. area, the city of Denver, Washington State and New York City, the salary range for this role is $98,500-$182,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of collective bargaining agreements.
