Job Description:
As a System Integration and Test Engineer, the individual will be responsible for the seamless integration and rigorous testing of complex systems to ensure they meet all specified requirements and performance standards. This role involves coordinating with multiple engineering teams to integrate hardware and software components, developing and executing comprehensive test plans, and troubleshooting any issues that arise during the integration process. The engineer will utilize their expertise in system engineering principles, test methodologies, and diagnostic tools to validate system functionality and reliability. Additionally, they will document test results, provide detailed reports, and work closely with stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes. A strong background in systems integration, thorough understanding of testing protocols, and excellent problem-solving skills are essential for success in this role.
You will prepare materials, document, and present technical designs internally and customer facing.
Essential Functions:
- System Integration:
- Lead the coordination with multiple engineering teams to integrate hardware and software components into a cohesive system.
- Ensure the seamless integration of all system components, aligning with overall system design and functionality.
- Test Plan Development:
- Develop comprehensive and detailed test plans and procedures to thoroughly validate system performance and reliability.
- Design and optimize test cases to cover all functional and non-functional aspects of the system.
- Execution of Testing:
- Oversee and conduct the execution of test plans and procedures, methodically verifying that the system meets all specified requirements.
- Utilize both manual and automated testing techniques to assess the system’s performance under various conditions.
- Troubleshooting and Problem Resolution:
- Lead the identification, diagnosis, and resolution of issues encountered during the integration and testing phases.
- Collaborate closely with development teams to implement fixes and ensure that defects are resolved efficiently.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Document test results comprehensively, providing detailed reports on findings, including defects, performance issues, and compliance with requirements.
- Maintain meticulous records of test activities and outcomes, ensuring all documentation is up-to-date and accurate.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Communicate test results and project status effectively to stakeholders, including engineers, project managers, and customers.
- Ensure all stakeholders are informed of any issues and the steps being taken to address them, fostering transparency and trust.
- Compliance and Standards Adherence:
- Ensure all testing activities comply with relevant industry standards, regulations, and internal quality assurance protocols.
- Stay informed about best practices and emerging trends in the field, applying this knowledge to improve testing processes.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Evaluate existing testing processes and methodologies, implementing improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Introduce innovative testing techniques and tools to stay ahead of technological advancements.
- Risk Management:
- Identify potential risks early in the integration and testing phases and develop mitigation strategies to minimize their impact.
- Proactively address risks to ensure the smooth progression of the project.
- Technical Leadership:
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and team members, fostering their professional growth.
- Share expertise and best practices, supporting the team in overcoming technical challenges and advancing their capabilities.
- Overall System Validation:
- Conduct end-to-end system validation to ensure all components and subsystems work together as intended.
- Perform stress testing, performance testing, and other types of validation to ensure system robustness and reliability.
Qualifications:
- B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or similar technical degree (STEM) with at least 6 years of prior relevant experience or Master's and 4 years of experience. In lieu of degree, 10 year's of experience with system/test.
- Experience in systems integration and testing, preferably in a relevant industry such as aerospace, defense, or telecommunications.
- Experience with standard lab equipment, including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, signal generators, and signal analyzers.
- Experience with MATLAB/Simulink.
- Experience with satellite communication hardware interfaces.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience
- Proven experience in leading technical teams and mentoring junior engineers.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience evaluating requirements and writing technical proposals.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite tools, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio.
- Understanding of satellite CONOPS

In compliance with the Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the salary range for this role is $100,000 - $185,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
