Job Description:
The Specialist, Manufacturing Process Engineering is responsible for technical and administrative support of multiple Manufacturing and Test groups (Antenna, Radio Frequency Equipment, Small Modem, and Commercial Products teams) within Operations. Direct responsibilities include providing engineering support of these products from conceptual development and prototyping through initial and full rate production, product phase-out and Maintenance, Repair, and Overall (MRO). This includes design reviews and approvals, engineering change approvals, master manufacturing process creation and maintenance, continuous improvement activities, requirements analysis/management, task planning, technical project management assistance (including reviews, reporting, and other documentation), build support, test support, root cause/corrective action.
Essential Functions:
- Analyze manufacturing production problems and implement corrective actions involving designs, materials, and processes
- Provide technical expertise and support related to manufacturing
- Incorporate new methods and processes to improve existing operations
- Train production personnel in new or existing operations
- Prepare reports summarizing information/trends related to manufacturing performance
- Insure performance against organizational goals for yield and process capability
- Actively participate in Failure Review Board (FRB) investigations
- Partners with other organizations to create and execute improved manufacturing plans which drive measurable improvements to the portion of the Company’s AOP that falls within this role’s span of control.
- Provide input on engineering specifications
- Support a culture of continuous improvement, “Right the First Time”, Safety First, audit ready, and Policy & Security compliance
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior engineering experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior engineering experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior engineering experience.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Systems Engineering preferred
- Advanced communication skills (written and verbal)
- Strong technical, analytical, and critical thinking / reasoning skills.
- Experience with logistics/production process flows/factory floor layout
- Understanding of all aspects of DoD development and program lifecycle: Design, Implementation, Verification, Production and Sustainment.
