Job Description:
Join the L3Harris team as a Lead Tactical Communications Operations Trainer, responsible for delivering, developing, and continuously improving advanced training across Tactical Radio (RF) and Satellite Communications (SATCOM) terminal systems. In this senior‑level role, you will serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) and training authority for L3Harris Communication Systems’ core product lines, providing expert‑level instruction to military, government, civilian, and international customers.
As a Lead Technical Trainer, you will shape training strategy, mentor instructors, and collaborate across engineering, programs, customer support, and technical publications to ensure all training content aligns with technical requirements and customer mission needs. You will apply your operational knowledge to strengthen training quality, enhance curriculum effectiveness, and deliver high‑impact learning experiences.
Essential Functions:
- Lead and deliver engaging training sessions incorporating classroom instruction, hands‑on lab work, and field exercises to ensure customer proficiency on L3Harris RF and SATCOM systems.
- Serve as the primary instructor for training at the Rochester Training Center and global customer locations, ensuring consistent training quality and customer satisfaction.
- Drive the development, enhancement, and maintenance of training materials by collaborating with engineering, programs, and technical publications teams.
- Gather, analyze, and integrate customer feedback and internal insights to improve training content, instructional methods, and learning effectiveness.
- Partner with publication writers to validate courseware, test training materials, and ensure technical documentation and manuals are accurate, clear, and instructionally aligned.
- Tailor training delivery to meet the needs of diverse audiences with varying levels of technical experience.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance
Qualification:
- Bachelor’s degree with 9+ years of relevant experience, OR a graduate degree with 7+ years of experience, OR 13+ years of directly related experience in lieu of a degree.
- Ability to travel up to 50% domestically and internationally, with overtime as required.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Extensive knowledge of L3Harris Type‑1 radios including AN/PRC‑163, AN/PRC‑167, AN/PRC‑160, and export radios such as RF‑7850M and RF‑7800H.
- Experience with VSAT terminal systems including Hawkeye, Panther, Darkwing, or Shadow terminals.
- Background as a DoD Training Developer/Writer with familiarity in the Army Systems Approach to Training (ASAT).
- Knowledge of SATCOM modems and hardware such as iDirect, CBM‑400, MPM, Linkway, EBEM, and RF components including LNBs, HPAs, and BUCs.
- Completion of DoD‑aligned instructor or curriculum‑development courses (e.g., U.S. Army Training and Education Development Course, Training Development Capability Course).
- Strong knowledge of network systems administration, wireless networking, and IT support, including router technologies.
- Foreign language proficiency (e.g., Arabic or Spanish).
In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in New York state is $87,500 - $162,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
