Aerojet Rocketdyne Redmond is seeking a skilled Senior Specialist, Materials and Process Engineer with a strong background in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, Materials Engineering or Metallurgy to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience working with metallic materials and hardware designed and manufactured for operation in space. This role requires the ability to work on-site at our Redmond location and to travel to suppliers occasionally (<15% travel). The role will report to the Sr. Manager Materials and Process Engineering and be based in the Redmond, WA facility.
Essential Functions:
- Provide on-site program M&P support for the L3Harris Redmond site In-Space Propulsion (ISP) product lines.
- Program support will include the following: execution to the Redmond M&P plan, completion of compliance matrices, materials recommendations for in-space propulsion product lines and general site support for in-house processes.
- Additional support to include, but not be limited to, participation in customer meetings, floor support for cleaning, welding, brazing, coatings, etc., incoming material inspection, occasional travel to suppliers and supporting failure analysis investigations
- Collaborate with Design and Manufacturing Engineering to develop robust processes and to optimize material selections.
- Support chemistry lab activities (approximately 25% of time) including metallographic sample preparation and other routine lab analyses.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 6 years of relevant process engineering experience Or Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of relevant process engineering experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of relevant process engineering experience
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Experience with the following laboratory techniques and equipment is preferred: GCMS, ICP, FTIR, XRF, SEM/EDS, mechanical testing and/or hardness testing
- Previous experience supporting space hardware manufacturing is preferred
- An MS degree in Materials or Chemistry is preferred.
- In addition to metallic materials knowledge, experience with ceramic or polymeric materials is desired.
In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in California, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Washington, and the Greater D.C, Denver, or NYC areas is $100,000 - $185,500. The salary range for this role in Colorado state, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New York state, and Vermont is $87,000 - $161,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
