Job Description:
The Project Engineer is responsible for Integrated Mission Systems (IMS) Engineering operations cadence, projects, and driving engineering excellence across the segment with best practice and processes. The position champions continuous improvement initiatives, manage Integrated Business Operations Planning, and spearheads the development and refinement of Engineering policies, processes, procedures, and tools. This includes the strategic growth of personnel and the organization. This position reports to the Segment Director of Engineering Operations.
Essential Functions:
- Develop and articulate business cases for objectives and initiatives.
- Develop objectives, roadmap, and plans to achieve IMS Engineering Team Key Results and initiatives
- Drive business results by effectively implementing project plans across the segment integrating sector level implementations.
- Facilitate the strategic development of Engineering operations execution, encompassing people, processes, and technology.
- Provide leadership of workforce management capabilities and overhead expenditure management
- Partner with Segment and CHQ engineering leadership in the development and execution of business solutions, interfacing regularly with CHQ team and other cross-functional members of the IMS leadership team
- Manages/Maintains Segment Engineering Command Media Library & Process to ensure alignment of personnel to Segment process standards for effective business execution.
- Key leader in the enhancement of the Command Media Library & Process Management for the Segment.
- Drives and tracks Continuous Improvement and Segment Initiatives providing oversight to continuous improvement, e3, Value Engineering, cost reduction initiatives, and Design to Value.
- Collaborate with peers/counterparts in other segments to partner on initiatives, leverage best practices, and enact economies-of-scale benefits across the L3Harris Enterprise
- Support initiatives aimed at enhancing engagement, retention, and development of Segment personnel
- Strategic mindset, strong project planning skills, business and financial acumen, excellent judgment, and the ability to think ahead. Strong communication skills and a proactive, action-oriented approach
- Travel may be required up to 5%
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree in engineering with at least 12 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree in engineering or business with a minimum of 10 years of experience.
- 10+ years’ experience working with large multi-site functional teams and managing complex projects
- 5+ years’ engineering program/project leadership experience
- Demonstrates leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Experienced in project planning tools, methodologies, and best practices.
- Experience in spearheading continuous improvement initiatives and optimizing processes.
- Knowledge and practical application of Workforce Planning and Staffing strategies.
- A background that includes employee development
- Requires US citizenship
