Job Description:
L3Harris is searching for a self-directed experienced hardware support specialist to assist prototype and development of electronic hardware builds in a hands-on engineering laboratory. This position will focus on supporting prototype, first article, and low volume manufacturing of general performance communications-based hardware including cables and Circuit Card Assemblies (CCAs) while providing feedback on design and process improvements through cycles of rapid learning and development.
Essential Functions:
- Work closely with other engineering disciplines to effectively communicate issues, write technical procedures, and review designs within designated area to help achieve project/program deadlines.
- Work in a dynamic and highly interactive team environment in a rapid development laboratory.
- Independently perform and lead a high mix of various assemblies including surface mount technology using a pick and place machine or harness and cable builds to required tolerances and within customer requirements.
- Interpret and follow moderately complex sketches, schematics, drawings, wiring diagrams, and work instructions.
- Involved in process improvement and best practices feedback on assembly drawings, BOMs, engineering change orders, process control instructions, verbal and detailed work instructions.
- Perform kit verification for hardware.
- Perform hand soldering of SMT, through-hole, and fine pitch components.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of two (2) years of prior related experience. Graduate Degree or equivalent with zero (0) to two (2) years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of six (6) years of prior related experience.
- Experience in Surface Mount Technology (SMT) and assembly operations utilizing specialized equipment (Pick-and-Place, solder paste printing and reflow ovens)
- Minimum two (2) years experience conducting work using a microscope
- Minimum two (2) years of experience working independently in a small lab environment interacting and collaborating with other functions
- Experience writing procedures and assisting others with hardware manufacturing operations
Preferred Additional Skills:
- JSTD 001 solder and rework certification
- IPC 610A certification
- IPC 620 certification
