Job Description:
L3Harris Technologies currently has an opening for a Lead Systems Engineer to support Satellite Systems Operations at the L3Harris Satellite Operations Center (SOC). The Lead Systems Engineer will oversee a dynamic team supporting cutting-edge space systems and will be responsible for satellite and ground system command and control activities.
This role involves executing satellite command and control operations, including real-time satellite commanding and telemetry analysis. Additional responsibilities include training personnel, conducting all activities related to satellite operations, and supporting anomaly resolution.
Essential Functions:
- Conduct real-time satellite operations that include commanding and telemetry analysis and anomaly actions, as required.
- Support satellite constellation mission planning activities.
- Perform satellite telemetry, tracking, and commanding activities on satellite constellation.
- Perform launch and early orbit checkout and 24/7 real-time satellite operations.
- Assist in developing checklists and procedures for satellite and ground system operations.
- Operations support includes attending Daily Operations Stand-up meetings, shift changeover meetings, inputs to monthly in-progress reviews.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.
- Active Top Secret/SCI clearance.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Objective thinker, problem solver with ability to execute challenging tasks to completion.
- Experience in planning, organizing, and directing teams.
- Strong Oral and Written communication skills and ability to work in a dynamic work environment.
- Familiarity with SQL/NoSQL (e.g., MySQL, MongoDB) and their declarative query languages, enabling effective data management and retrieval for applications.
- Proven leader in Space Operations.
- Experience as a Satellite Vehicle Operator or Engineer, to include telemetry, tracking and commanding (TT&C), and spacecraft and ground system procedures development.
