Job Description:
L3Harris Corporation is seeking a lead field engineer to support both CONUS and OCONUS installations of large strategic satcom antenna terminals. This position requires familiarity with the integration of RF components for a large program for a Communication Systems portfolio of program in Brevard County, Florida. Essential Functions:
- Site integration lead for installation of large strategic satcom antenna terminals
- Lead a team of approximately 8 technicians on field installations at both CONUS and OCONUS military bases
- Work cross functionally with multi-disciplinary team to properly plan for successful installations:
- Site surveys
- Engineering request for materials
- Logistics/coordination of delivery of materials to site
- Subcontractor agreements and coordination of events
- Coordination with customer on site
- Reach back to in-country support for status reporting of weekly progress
- Interpreting, updating/redlining engineering drawings and bill of materials
- Dynamic planning around work stoppages to maintain mission schedule
- Deconflict logistics issues while in field
- Cost account management of budget/schedule
- Support/lead fly-away tech assists repairing/refurbishing large satellite antenna systems and ancillary equipment
- Identifying process improvements for streamlining installation process
- Troubleshoot installation issues (mechanical/electrical)
- Support preliminary/critical design reviews for hardware development
- Interface with systems integration test engineers for proper handoff of antenna systems for onsite acceptance testing
- Preparation of manufacturing/integration work instructions
- Support any design considerations for tooling/test fixtures
- Development of Basis of Estimates (BOE’s) for bid and proposal activities
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.
- Possess or have the ability to obtain U.S. DoD Secret Clearance or higher
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Strong knowledge of satcom antenna systems and RF architecture
- Strong knowledge of mechanical/electrical systems
- Hands-on in the manufacturing of electronics for military and government systems is preferred
- Working knowledge of IPC/J-STD workmanship requirements. Specifically, IPC-A600, IPC-6012/6013, as well as MIL-Spec-55110 and MIL-Spec-31032
- Knowledge of metrology or use of a theodolite
- Experience working with manufacturing of circuit card assemblies
- Experience working with antennas and integrated RF Systems
- Experience with RF test equipment
- Integrated Product Team Lead experience a bonus
- Proficient in Microsoft Office® applications to include Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio
- Excellent organizational and record keeping skills
- Ability to travel to military bases both CONUS and OCONUS
- Ability to work without any onsite supervision
- Ability to work overtime
- Ability to be on field assignment for consecutive months
- Ability to work outside in all weather conditions
- Ability to operate heavy machinery (forklifts, etc)
- Ability to lift > 32 lbs
- Ability to work in tight/confined spaces
