Job Description:
L3Harris is seeking a Government Tool Control Specialist for its Orlando, FL location. This positionwill be responsible for the maintenance and inventory of supplies within the tool room. The duties and responsibilities of this job will revolve around inventory control. The Government Tool Control Specialist will be responsible for managing the tooling database and maintaining a list of tools and equipment available for distribution, maintains records of which products are signed out and to whom, and then signs products back in when they are returned. The duties and responsibilities will revolve around inventory control.
Essential Functions:
- Able to perform tasks in the Tool Control and Government Property department such as issue and receive test equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, function generators and specialized environmental test equipment (vibe tables, altitude and thermal chambers, etc.).
- Categorize and properly store hand tools and related companies and government test equipment.
- Maintain an inventory of tools, inspect tools and equipment for wear or defects, and request new equipment when needed.
- Maintain and file records of tool use, equipment and calibration dates and records both written and electronic.
- Support manufacturing, engineering, and quality personnel.
Qualifications:
- Requires proficient knowledge of job area. Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience; or a Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Government Compliance
- Experience with U.S. Government regulatory frameworks such as ITAR, EAR, DFARS, FAR Part 15, and CPSR requirements.
- Working knowledge of DCMA and DCAA audit processes.
- Understanding of ANSI/AS9100, ISO 9001, and quality-management systems in defense environments.
- Experience supporting Property Management compliance under FAR 52.245‑1.
- Background working with government contracts, Program Compliance Plans, or contractual flow-down requirements.
- Hands-on experience implementing internal compliance controls and documentation.
- Ability to conduct internal compliance reviews, gap assessments, and corrective action plans.
- Knowledge of government reporting requirements (e.g., EVM requirements, GFP reporting in PIEE, audit trail maintenance, Familiarity with Trade Compliance procedures including export jurisdiction/classification, understanding of supply-chain compliance requirements including counterfeit parts prevention (DFARS 252.246‑7007).
- Recommended Certifications:
- Government Compliance (Industry Recognized)
- CPP (Certified Procurement Professional) or CPSM (Certified Professional in Supply Management)
- CPCM or CFCM (NCMA – National Contract Management Association)
- ITAR/EAR Export Compliance Certification (EXIM or equivalent)
- CCEP (Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional)
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt (useful for compliance process improvements)
- ASQ Certifications (CQI, CQA, or CMQ/OE depending on role focus)
- PMP (Project Management Professional), especially when tied to government contracting
- NIST Cybersecurity Framework or CMMC Practitioner training (if dealing with CUI)\ • DAU (Defense Acquisition University) courses: CON 090, CON 170, CON 270, or equivalent acquisition/compliance coursework
- Government Property Management certification (NPMA – CPPS, CPPA, or CPPM) if the role touches GFP/property)
- Basic computer skills and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word and Excel).
- Compliance with quality and safety policies at all times.
- Willingness to work varied shifts to support surge activities
- Familiarity with lean processes
- Active Secret Clearance
