Job Description:
We are seeking a Senior Specialist, Accountingto lead the Program Accounting function for a number of businesses within the Targeting and Sensor Systems (TSS) Sector, reporting to the TSS Sector Controller. This role has overall responsibility for the program accounting functions of the divisions, including revenue recognition, contract and non-contract inventory, and monitoring profit rate changes, among other tasks. The ideal candidate will have strong communication and analytical skills, combined with a strong technical accounting background.
Essential Functions:
- Owns the revenue recognition process under ASC606, including the completion of complex Contract Review Worksheets (CRWs)
- Coordinates the completion of inventory NRV’s for both contract and non-contract inventory
- Prepares the income statement flux report, explaining in detail the quarterly changes in various areas of the P&L
- Calculates and documents monthly accruals, including all program-related accruals and warranty accruals and adjustments
- Monitors monthly revenue recognition process for reasonableness and accuracy against existing program EACs and performance obligation determination
- Provides cross functional support for any program related accounting requirements for non-routine transactions
- Proactively identifies and implements process improvements
- Prepares ad-hoc reporting and assist with special projects, as requested
- Supports Audits (External Audit, Internal Audit, SOX, and Self Evaluation Testing)
Qualifications:
- U.S. Citizenship
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field and minimum of 6 years of relevant experience
- Or a Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience.
- In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
- Experience with US GAAP and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements
- Experience in the monthly, quarterly, and annual close in a fast-paced close process with multiple, often competing, deadlines
- Experience with facilitating internal and external audits
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel
- Experience working with Cost Point is an asset
- Ability interact with business stakeholders
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
