Job Description:
We are seeking a Firewall Engineer to join our IT team. As a Firewall Engineer, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and optimizing our network infrastructure. Your responsibilities will include configuring network and firewall equipment, monitoring performance, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring network security.
Essential Functions:
- Design, implement, and maintain firewall solutions to protect network infrastructure.
- Lead the transition from Cisco firewalls to Palo Alto firewalls, ensuring minimal disruption to network services.
- Monitor and respond to firewall alerts and incidents.
- Perform regular firewall audits and assessments to ensure compliance with security policies.
- Collaborate with IT teams to design and deploy network security solutions.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for firewall-related issues.
- Develop and maintain documentation for firewall configurations and procedures.
- Travel for this position can be up to 20% annually.
- Ability to lift 30 pounds
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
- Active Top Secret/SCI with ability to obtain CI Poly Clearance
- CompTIA Security + CE Certification
Preferred Additional Skills:
- Any of the following certifications CCNA or Network + PCNSA PSNSE
- Experience with DOD encryption devices
- Self-motivated, able to switch tasks easily, work independently
- Strong troubleshooting skills
- Familiarity with network automation (Ansible)
